Slimming World for me - I lost 2st 8lb between August and December last year. I put on weight at Christmas and after an all inclusive holiday but managed to shed it all and I'm still at target.

Newrowsees · 19/09/2014 22:49

I lost 40lbs over a year ago and have kept it off. I started out tracking calories in and out on myfitnesspal. I worked to about 1700 net calories so it wasn't too much of a hardship.

I also ramped up the amount of exercise I was doing, with HIIT, running and strength training most days.

I think the key thing is finding something you can enjoy and sustain in the long term.

felttippens · 20/09/2014 09:08

Lots of slimming world success here hmmmm it's so hard to decide which way to go
I'm 3stone heavier than my wedding day - it's my ten year anniversary soon and i'd love to get back to that (or within a stone!)

I have finally managed to lose my extra 2 stone 23 years after last child was born. I have tried every diet going but this time was determined as it definitely gets harder post menopausal age.
So I went back to just eating less and moving more.
I bought a lovely notebook and wrote every single mouthful I ate in the book with the number of calories. I went really low calorie for 2 months(1000) 1100 then 1200 then 1300 for a total of 6 months, so lost about 1lb a week.
I ate low fat vanilla yog with loads of berries for breakfast. Few rice cakes and fruit at lunchtime and a mini version of dinner in the evening.
I bought myself a flashy pink water bottle and added an extra litre of water to my daily intake of fluid.
I gave up bread, pasta and rice almost completely and had an occasional small piece of cake. No crisps, biscuits, sweets etc. I don't drink alcohol anyway.
Every week I wrote an inspirational quote in my weigh in page.
So basically it was low carb and low calorie, rather boring, but as I began to need to take in my clothes I became more and more determined. At first I was horrified at how many calories I must have eaten without realizing, eg a small portion of rice to go with some meat and veg has so many calories.
I didn't want to become a diet bore so if I was out for eating, I just had a smaller portion.
I also used a smaller plate for eating at home.
I didn't do formal exercise, just walked more and got my bike out for short journeys instead of using the car.

It is so much harder when you are catering for children as well though, which is why I think I have failed before.

Good luck to you all, the hard part for me now is to work out a way of eating for life to stay at this weight!

Tanyab1979 · 21/09/2014 09:29

Hi anyone out there tried juice plus. I'm about to start on Monday as need to loose my baby weight to fit into my bridesmaid dress. Want to hear from real people not reps as they all seem a bit fake and pushy, thanks ladies x

BIWI · 21/09/2014 10:01

You wouldn't happen to be one of those fake and pushy reps would you, Tanya? As I see you've never posted on MN before ... Hmm

BestIsWest · 21/09/2014 10:06

Lost 7lbs with My fitness Pal, then another stone and a half with BIWI's low carb bootcamp. Can't wait for the next one to start.

KylieAteMyHamster · 21/09/2014 10:11

Slimming World. I was a very disordered eater for 20 years. SW not only helped me lose weight but also put an end to my obsession with food. I feel that I eat like a 'normal' person now.

HolgerDanske · 21/09/2014 10:12

Low carbing. I lost three stone in four months.

ExCarbivore · 21/09/2014 12:04

I've recently lost 30lbs in 9 weeks doing low carbing but I stick to about 30-50g a day so I'm not really, really low but those carbs tend to come from veg and berries.

I've also increased my exercise a lot and now will automatically take the stairs and prefer to walk. I do the Shred which I loathe but I want to tone up and I've taken up yoga too.

I've still got loads to lose and it's a good start especially when I was a lazy arse carboholic.

PhoebeMcPeePee · 21/09/2014 15:26

Lost 2.5 stone with SW March - July, took a break in August now back on for the final 1.5 stone by Christmas with cycling twice a week as I'm doing a charity bike ride next year & need to ease myself in gently.

Mitchy1nge · 21/09/2014 23:47

slimming world seems really really good as far as any of these things go, my friend lost 5 stone about 10 years ago and has kept it off (bar recent side effects of cancer treatments) and has probably one of the best attitudes to food and weight maintenance I can find among my female friends

I lost 13 kg over the course of a year from May 2013 to about June this year mainly using MFP but going on various self designed taco nutrition plans and mad amounts of exercise, haven't got amazingly healthy eating habits but I know that monitoring my weight frequently helps keep me focused and continuing to keep a food diary, not eating out too often and having a fairly monotonous diet that doesn't scrimp on protein but also includes a lot of vegetables.

stargirl1701 · 21/09/2014 23:49

Swimming. 50 lengths every day. After a year, I had lost 3 stone. No change to diet.

Mrsgrumble · 21/09/2014 23:49

Lost more than that with the older weight waycher plan.. Discover. Didn't really like the to points one.

EvaTheOptimist · 21/09/2014 23:55

BIWI's MN low-carb bootcamp. I lost 3 stone over 10 months, and I've kept it off over the last 7 months. (Thanks BIWI!! Grin )

EvaTheOptimist · 21/09/2014 23:56

PS I don't like meat either. But you can do the MN low-carb bootcamp eating fish, eggs etc

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 22/09/2014 15:17

I have lost 1st 10lbs since July 28th using MFP and a lower-carb diet (small portions of carbs, not with every meal, but I am not cutting them out).

pseudonymity · 23/09/2014 16:40

I have lost about 1 and a half stone very gradually, and kept it off. I use MFP app to count calories, record weight and measurements. But I only log my food for a few days every month, to keep things in check. I got into cycling and enjoy it a lot. Also do vinyasa yoga which I swear is great for fat loss, and I really enjoy it, feel fantastic afterwards. I do run a bit but have never enjoyed it as much as the feeling of freedom on a bike or the yoga. Find an exercise that you will look forward to doing.

MadameJosephine · 23/09/2014 16:48

Actually tanyab1979 I did start with juice plus but I didn't buy it from a rep as they are vv pushy and it costs a bloody fortune and then once they have you hooked they start trying to flog you expensive capsules too. I bought some of the shakes 'second hand' and used them for a while a bit like slimfasr alongside the ' clean eating' diet plan that they give you but after about 6 weeks I realised that it was the food that was working not the shakes so now I just follow the clean eating without the shakes and I am still losing. So far I've lost 25lbs in 9 weeks Smile

dollywobbles · 23/09/2014 20:22

I've lost just under 5 stones, since the middle of Feb.
I did used to eat absolutely loads though, and did very little exercise.
I just started to eat less, and no 'bad' stuff, more protein-filled stuff (eg, a boiled egg for a snack, or a few slices of cooked chicken).
I started cycling at first, about 6/7 miles 3 or 4 times a week. After the first couple of stones were gone, I started the couch to 5k.
I now run 5/6k 5 times a week (and really love it) and do a pilates class once a week.
I've gone from a size 16 to size 12, but more importantly I've gone from 'obese' to a healthy BMI. That's what I really wanted to achieve.

CatWitch · 23/09/2014 20:28

I have lost 25 lbs since January by using MFP and going to the gym at least 4 times weekly. I don't mess about at the gym, I want to leave feeling shredded.

Redcoats · 23/09/2014 20:30

Mfp and 5 2 fasting. Now I'm at target I'm going to ramp up the exercise to get to the stage where I don't really need to diet.

felttippens · 25/09/2014 15:42
