Losing weight while EBF

Hi i am EBF my 2 month DD and want to start losing weight. I have two stone to lose. Im not one of the lucky ones who lose weight naturally while BF so i have to make a concerted effort to lose it. I dont eat a lot as BF doesnt make me very hungry and i am just eating to appetite. I am eating healthily already and eating around 1800 calories a day. I dont eat sweet things, no fizzy drinks, takeaways etc. i am eating 3 regular meals with 1-2 snacks a day. Can someone give me some inspirational stories as to how they lost weight, and what methods they used and how they kept motivated as im very down about how i look. I was hoping to be losing a bit already by EBF. I had a c section so i am walking for around 45 min a day about 2-3 times a week. I dont think im ready to do any more strenous exercise yet as my scar still feel sensitive. I know im lucky to have a beautiful baby but its hard to look im the mirror and see how much my body has changed.

Hello! Congratulations on the birth of your baby and well done on the EBF. Your situation is just like mine (although I didn't have a C section). When my DD2 was 8 weeks old I wanted to lose 2 stone to get back to pre-preg weight. I was EBF. I started 5:2 (having previously lost 2 stone that way before getting pregnant). It was (still is!) brilliant for me. I started at the beginning of January and within 6 months I had lost over 2.5 stone, my BMI is now around 19.8 at 8st5 and I am much fitter and more muscled (I also started the 30 day shred after I had been doing 5:2 alone for a couple of months - I'm now on level 3 and it's free as I just follow the vids on YouTube in my own home - I do it first thing before my girls wake up!). I continued to EBF DD2 who grew brilliantly, tracking just below the 75th centile the whole time. She's now eating solids (9 months old) but also still breastfed. My whole body shape and size has changed and I feel really happy with it. I was worried my milk supply might suffer but it didn't. Usually 5:2 involves 2 days of 500 cals and 5 days of normal eating (your daily calorie requirement - which is, of course, increased due to BF) but if you're BF you might want to eat 1000 cal on fast days. You will still lose weight, but more slowly. I did 500-600 cal though and was fine. I'm still doing my fast days to maintain my new weight (and allow me to overindulge a bit on non fast days Shock). There's a fantastic 5:2 thread if you fancy it? Lots of support there.

Thanks for the response. I hadnt considered the 5:2 diet but will definitely look into it. Congratulations on your weight loss!
