a whole packet of jaffa cakes while looking up websites for helping me to slim and got nowhere in the process except fatter. I know there is no hope for me with an attitude like that but I can't seem to change no matter what I tell myself. Just had to admit it to someone but no-one I know, IYSWIM

this is the kind of thing I would do too

misdee · 05/04/2004 08:38

i'm like that too. complain about my weight then scoff ice cream. makes me feel crap and useless. but tonight i'm gonna go to a weightwatchers meeting for the first time ever. if i can summon up the courage to actually walk in and be weighed in front of people.

Fio2 · 05/04/2004 08:40

dont worry misdee other people cant see your weight. It is vile though realising how much you ACTUALLY weigh iykwim

misdee · 05/04/2004 08:46

i know. i just had to order loads of new clothes as my weight has slowly crept up and am finding my wikked clothes too tight. apparently i need to lose around 6stone. that seems so much and impossible.

Fio2 · 05/04/2004 09:13

misdee at ww they tell you to aim for 1/2 stone at a time, then it just seems easier somehow. I have lost a stone and a half and have another stone and a half to loose so I know how you feel

juniper68 · 05/04/2004 09:23

Well done for admitting it. We all have our temptations, crisps is mine. I could sit here and eat half a dozen packets of cheese and onion no probs.
Have you ever been to a slimming club amess?
Please try to feel positive about yourself hun, we're all struggling with you.

CountessDracula · 05/04/2004 09:28

I ate two M&S flapjacks and 2 bits of shortbread in about 5 minutes last night

amess · 05/04/2004 12:49

glad I'm not the only one after all
promise myself day after day and after the packet this morning told myself so get on track now... ha! But trying again where is the will power I once had? Trouble is I thought I was fat 25 years ago and now I would now consider myself to be so skinny if I was the size I was just 10 years ago! boo hoo

You can join us at MN Mamas and get some on-line encouragement. If this would help you just email mn.bigmamas(at)virgin(dot)net with your starting weight, goal weight (if you have one), then just email every Thursday with your loss and it will be announced on the weekly thread.

Demented · 05/04/2004 14:01

BTW I ate a packet of McCoys crisps, a creme egg and had half a bottle of wine last night. I am loosely following Weightwatchers and have calculated that I was 11 points over my allowance yesterday. I know how you feel, trying to be angelic today though.

amess · 06/04/2004 17:42

demented, trouble is think dh would see and i cant let him know the honest truth its the 1 secret i have the amt i actually weigh..........

Fio2 · 06/04/2004 17:44

Demented I know how you feel. I have some really good days when I have loads of points left, and then when I have a curry on a bad day it can be loooooooaaaaaaaaads over the given amount!!

amess, we could leave out any mention of your weight and you could just send me your loss every week. Just a mail saying, for example 'lost 2lbs this week'. It's up to you, perhaps that is one of the advantages of having an overweight DH, he doesn't blink if you tell him you've got two stone to lose. Talking of my DH he has lost a stone since I've been doing this, without even trying, grrrrr, men!

Fio2 know what you mean, don't think I am going to lose anything this week, if I stay the same I will be happy, had a curry last night and instead of choosing my normal tikka, with separate sauce (not creamy or very oily), only eating a little bit of rice and no naan, I went for chicken bhuna, rice, naan, even had a starter and instead of Diet Coke DH brought home fat Irn Bru. I spent all night tossing and turning in bed with indigestion and heartburn. Will I learn? I hope so.

amess · 07/04/2004 11:07

Demented... thinking again but what if I email you and you turn out to be someone I know????!!!!!! You will know first from the email address and then may not email me and I will simply die!!!!!!!!

CountessDracula · 07/04/2004 11:14

Well I was well bang on my points yesterday, but you would all be so horrified at what I spent them on

Forgot to have breakfast
Had a cream cheese bagel for lunch + a cappucino
A banana on the way to the footie
Two double whiskies before the footit
Two double whiskies after
(That's EIGHT!!!!!)
Bar of dairy milk out of the machine on the station on the way home
half a bagel (plain) when I got home

How's that for healthy eating?

Codswallop · 07/04/2004 11:36

fat bloater

Codswallop · 07/04/2004 11:37

but in points obv

wel thats not so bad then!

CountessDracula · 07/04/2004 11:40

Bloater LOL - coddy you just want some other fish to hang out with don't you

Juliehafrancis · 07/04/2004 12:50

I so know how you all feel.
I am double what I should be. My main problem is that I comfort eat and often eat when I am walking into town and back home. Have tried to stop that by doing an Internet shop with tesco's. Next I have to combat eating the rest of Briony's tea when she leaves it!
I tried weight watchers but couldn't face having to pay £5.00 every week just for the humilation and smarky comments from the leaders when you have put a pound on. My mirror and weighing scales and partner are bad enough!
Today I have not eaten anything (yet) and plan to have a healthy lunch and tea and try not to snack on biscuits at the toddler group and Briony's tea!
Wish me luck!

Codswallop · 07/04/2004 12:53

Go back to ww IMo

its the only way to mtivate me!

Demented · 07/04/2004 13:13

LOL CD, I thought I was bad! I've had chocolate for my breakfast the last three days (at about 11am). Three points on a creme egg or four points or porridge, hmmm, decisions, decisions (I usually have low fat yoghurt honest).

amess, do you want me to ask MN to forward you my personal email address and then if you know me (very obvious from my personal address) you can decide then whether to join or not. BTW I live in Scotland so that may be enough to rule out whether you know me or not.

Demented · 07/04/2004 13:16

juliehfrancis, you could join MN Mamas, we are maybe not as good as Weightwatchers but we are free.

If you want to join us mail me at mn.bigmamas(at)virgin(dot)net with your starting weight, goal weight (if any), then mail me every Thursday with your loss and it will be announced on the appropriate weekly thread on a Friday night. We celebrate milestones such as first half stone and aim to provide motivational tip and recipes. Many are also doing WW or Slimming World (with or without the classes) and using MN Mamas as extra motivation.

Morgan · 07/04/2004 13:25

Hi everyone - i've got about 5 1/2 stone to lose to be in "healthy range" am doing WW and have lost 15.5 lbs in 10 weeks so far so doing ok - i always have to save lots of points for the w/end as have been entertaining lots - but you can do it. I would really recommend it amess. Just ate two small choc eggs at a toddler easter egg hunt this am but will count the points and carry on from there - at least ww's allows you to do that. Like Countess Dracula did you can eat whatever you want as long as you count the points. Before i've eaten several digestive biscuits and ended up having just veggies for tea to balance it out.

CountessDracula · 07/04/2004 13:29

i wouldn't recommend a diet of whisky and chocolate on a long term basis as you may get malnutrition

Good luck all you lot. I need to lose about 2 stone or more really so am really trying with WW. And Coddy harassing me helps!!
