Name changed as I feel so stupid.
Sitting in my GP surgery, I saw an advert for a Specialist Weight Loss clinic. Run by the NHS, a multi discipline service; dietitian, psychologist, physio etc. My BMI was 37, I have high blood pressure and gall stones so I plucked up courage and asked my GP for a referral, she readily agreed.
A few weeks further on, I had my appointment today. It was going really well, -" we can do this for you/we can do that for you". Finally at the end of the appointment I was weighed. My BMI was "only" 34 as I have lost weight recently due to gall stone problems which means I can't eat much and I am waiting for surgery. I was abruptly told that the clinic would not be able to help me but she would at least refer me to a dietician.
I feel devastated I have only lost weight because I am sick. The underlying problems are still there. I finally plucked up courage to ask for help and it was thrown back in my face.
Just wanted to vent because I feel so upset and frustrated. The media and Govt keep going on about how the obesity crisis, yet when someone seeks help they are told they can't have it. I am fucking furious!
