I've got an interview in two months....can I get rid of three stone? Anybody managed that?!!

Or will I have to do a frigging juice fa-AAARGH-st?

Cos I really can't afford or face replacing 15 size ten suits....

Erm, nobody but you can answer that question, Fergus.

Are you really MNing whilst eating seafood risotto (which sounds much too good for its eater to divide their attention in that way)? Because if you are, then consider this as a first step to 'healthy eating' (or whatever you want to call it). ENJOY your meals. Enjoy what you eat. Properly. Give your food your full attention. That way you'll start to crave less of it.

LastMangoInParis · 13/08/2014 21:05

*three stone, even.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 13/08/2014 21:06

No idea but I've just eaten 8 custard creams and will join you in loosing weight. I'm growing out of my clothes and can't afford to replace them all.

Surely if we reduce portion size and stop snacks that'd help?

FergusSingsTheBlues · 13/08/2014 21:10

No, I always eat at the take, trust meeee, food gets my undivided attention. But, I'm quite a good cook and greedy to boot which is a terrible combo. Made the mistake of weighing myself right before I sat down to dinner....omfg. Must have body dysmorphia....think I look ok!

Products? You're not making your own smoothies you buy them I take it? I'd rather follow some recipes and ideas and not pay tbh.

Juice fasts (presuming that's what you're talking about) are a foolish and unsustainable way to loose weight. Whatever you loose on juice will come right back on as soon as you start eating solid food again.

3 stone in 2 months is very ambitious. I have just lost 2 st 10 lbs in 3 months but that's with a substantial calorie deficit and high intensity exercise minimum 3 times per week.

I recommend myfitness pal to track the calories in and maybe a movement tracker like a fitbit to get an accurate picture of what you're burning. When you have this info you can eat at a deficit of 3500 cals which will loose you 1 lb per week or more of you want faster results.

There are many ways to achieve it low carb, paleo etc. but if you like rich food and drinks and want to only count cals 2 days a week I would recommend the 5:2 diet. There's a great forum with lost of info on the weight loss topic

Mumraathenoisylion · 14/08/2014 07:12

Juice fasts are awful and unnecessary, they create a negative mindset towards food and cause guilt/over-eating cycle.

Dh has lost over 2 stone in 3 months on slimming world, the food is amazing, good portion sizes and 3 meals a day. You could still have your seafood risotto and beer AND lose weight they will show you how to cook it to help weight loss.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 14/08/2014 07:47

I'd rather make it fresh and know what's in there Marie. I've just realised I've seen an article before on juice plus and it's contents and it wasn't a good read as I understood it, it contained a lot of sugar amongst other things. You sound like you work for them Grin

I used to make green smoothies with almond milk, a banana and fresh spinach towards my 5 a day. That sort of thing I'm happy to do but not juice plus.

I need to look into 5:2 as a way to loose weight I think but the truth is I just eat big portions. If the kids leave any of theirs I always eat it too Blush And I'm prone to eating too many biscuits. I used to be so good. I need to sort it out. I think because I'm feeling very tired and low it's making me worse too.

OP I hope you manage to slim down enough for your old suits. Maybe some spanx will help if you can't quite manage it in 2 months.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 14/08/2014 08:04

I did one a few years ago purely to cure a skin condition (only alternative left was chemotherapy, so I was desperate. And sick.) .

It worked.
I looked years younger.
I had more mental and physical energy than ever.

I lost three stone in six weeks, which I didn't need to lose but the weight went back on relatively easily....think I'd gained most if it back within the year.

Think there is a place for juice fasting but no, I. Don't think it's sustainable.

The side effect which is very helpful it that it totally resets the craving etc that a lot of us deal with. For a LNG time After i was just vegan

With Brie and cranberries? Mmmmm

Been at work all day and manage to only eat a cup cake as a snack for someone leaving. No biscuits but I ruined it by having a McDs with kids tonight Blush
