Giving up wine for 30 days!!!

Has anyone given up drinking wine to help weight loss? I go running, watch what I eat but its creeping back on. I was having a couple of glasses of red wine most evenings after work to unwind, I got into a bit of a habit but now I have decided to stop altogether for 30 days. Today is my second day and I feel slightly better. My skin isn't so dry and my face isn't as red. I didn't consider myself to be a heavy drinker as only had 1 -2 glasses I suppose over a course of a week that is a lot. At weekends I probably had a bit more if the DC's were staying with the EXH. So Day 1 down and 29 more days to go. If anyone would like to join me. I have noted my weight today so will see how I do this week. Will try to not to eat more to replace the calories in the wine. Which if you read up on is quite a lot. I am going to do it this time. Wish me luck as I love my red wine.

Well no one wants to join me, wow it has changed a bit on here, since I was on it last, from reading a lot of posts people just want to bitch on here and slag off the person that puts a post up, because they remain anonymous I suppose!! Anyway I have now been off the wine for 4 days and I must say I have noticed an improvement in my complexion although not lost any weight yet. I was just looking for comments from others who have already tried giving up alcohol and succeeded and what was their stories of how they managed it etc. Its not been that hard but I have felt like a glass or two last night but I didn't succumb.

I am pregnant at the moment but I was thinking of really reducing my intake when I start back drinking. I have a glass about two or three evening. Never a second though, but still feel I could reduce.

What are you having as an alternative to wine? I find I like to have a glass of something.

Well done

Hi Smile I'm back to weight watchers today and no alcohol will be part of my plan for at least the next monthShock 2 stone Confused to lose, it has to help

angelwings, is it too late to join you?

I'm also thinking of giving up wine (just for a few weeks) because I'd like to lose 1/2 stone.
My problem is, I never have wine during the week, but come the weekend I will eat out a few times (with wine) and maybe also have a bottle at Sunday lunch, between DH and myself.
So, come Monday morning when I go to weigh myself, I find I have undone alll the good work I did during the week.
And I'm sure its all down to the wine, because I stick to the diet food-wise on the weekends.

Thinking about it - I have started this Monday as well. (Sunday was the last 'wine'day)

Are you substituting the wine with another lower calorie alcoholic drink instead?

I'm also giving up wine (well all booze really!) for a while. Like you I was having a couple of glasses every night to 'wind down'. I need to lose some weight so it's calories I really don't need. I also suffer from insomnia (and have a 9 month old baby!) and have realised I sleep better when I've had no alcohol. The past few weeks I've not drank during the week, but now going to extend it to weekends too.

I did it a couple of Januarys ago. I didn't notice any weight loss, but my weight did stabilise and stop creeping upwards. I think it was more the fact that alcohol makes me weak-willed so when I'm a bit drunk I start craving crisps or cheese and biscuits, ice cream, chocolate (carby stuff really). If I stick to fizzy water or slimline tonic I don't get such strong cravings for crap food.

Arrh thank you for all your lovely comments. I fell of the wine wagon and have been off and on it a couple of times. Just as an experiment lol!!! Although I am trying to not have wine before I eat as I will just snack while I am cooking the evening meal. So back on the no wine train again after tonight!!!! I lost 2 lbs so far so it does help I think. So lets do it!!!

Yep. Am off the alcohol here too (all of august up to 11 September (when I go to my step daughters wedding). Also off grains and sugar. My skin looks good and I think I have lost a bit of weight. I will know how much when I go back to work and weigh myself.
