Why can't I lose weight 😒

I'm currently really overweight and haven't got a clue what I am doing wrong.

I run around after 3 children and go for regular walks for exercise.

My typical meals for the day are

Breakfast 27g porridge made with almond milk half of a banana and cinnamon and a teaspoon of peanut butter

Lunch salad sandwich or a salad

Dinner 1 piece of meat half of my plate is full with vegetables and a steam packet of frozen vegetable rice

Snacks are fruit
I don't drink any hot drinks, pop or juice whatsoever as I have stomach ulcers so I get a bad reaction from them.
If I have anything sweet I get really bad headaches.

I basically eat clean but I cannot shift my weight. I have pcos and doctors warned me it would be harder for me to lose wight but this is getting beyond a joke now.

Can anyone else suggest what else I could do please?

Have you looked at the low carb threads. A lot of people have great success with the low carb way of eating. Good luck

HeySoulSister · 04/08/2014 17:43

So you drink lots of water?

Exercise... Maybe try something new? Kids and walking isn't really enough

Replace some of those carbs with protein? And how much fruit are you snacking on? As it can hinder weightloss

Somethingpink · 04/08/2014 19:08

I drink at least 2 litres a day and because of that I don't really get hungry. Snacking isn't huge at all because I'm just not hungry enough to eat lots. The carbs atm are minimum it's mainly vegetables I eat. I have one sandwich a week and the rice twice a week and I never touch potatoes.

If I eat any less I may aswell just go without.

Taking the kids for a couple of hours walk is all iv got time to do as I care for my partner full time aswell. So the time kids get outside for fresh air is the only time I get.

Add up your calories by keeping a truthful food diary for a few days. If you are actually consuming only what you have said ( and not picking at the kids food etc) then it doesn't seem right. You sound insulin resistant to me as pcos and headache after sugar and difficulties with weight loss are signs. Your diet sounds like it is lacking in protein and fats to balance carbohydrate.

You don't need to eat less but you need to eat different. There was a thread on here awhile ago, beginning of the year I think, on Insulin Resistance.

It may be a bit out there but I was the same as you, I was very honest about everything I ate and attended numerous slimming clubs but didn't seem to lose it. My thyroid was tested and it was underactive. I had been feeling very tired, forgetful, suffered headaches as well though. Just a thought x

Fizzyfuzzy123 · 05/08/2014 10:49

Oh and I have pcos as well xx

ppeatfruit · 05/08/2014 11:58

Have look at Paul Mckenna, it 's important to actually feel hungry when you DO eat and stop when you feel satisfied. Do you eat late at night?

I lost nearly 3 stone never counting a calorie (or doing extra exercise). Some people are bad with chicken. Maybe try salmon or turkey instead. Eat slowly and consciously and you might start to lose! Grin

Fizzy what happened after your thyroid diagnosis? Most people find that going on meds for it doesn't necessarily help them to lose weight. The insulin resistant body has all the symptoms mentioned here especially pcos and sugar issues. pp also mentions the Paul McKenna books and cds which are brilliant for overcoming eating when your body isn't actually asking for food.
