portion sizes?

I'm just starting to lose weight for the umpteenth time.

I've been binge eating on rubbish for far too long and my portions are rather large (understatement)

I've had not rubbish food for two days, but my meals are still large. Not too worried in the short term as it's at least better than crisps and biscuits. Obviously I am going to need to address the portion sizes in due course.

Are there any guidelines for recommended portion sizes? Yes I know I should know, but I've lost sight of what a normal portion looks like.

Thank you.

I forgot to mention I'm a plate clearer too, so if I have a plateful I eat a plateful!

It's not really about portion sizes, it's eating when your truely hungry and stopping when you are satisfied. Sometimes that may only be a few bites. Eating mindfully. Smile

I would say reading packets is a good place to start.
40g of cereal WEIGHED OUT isn't as much as you would think. Back of spaghetti and pasta packets will also give you a "calories per whatever gram serving" and stick to the serving size. Fill up with veggies to bulk meals out. Eating on a smaller plate can help too. Also, don't cook more than you need as it is so easy to "finish things off" this is what I have been doing and have lost 4lbs! Good luck!

Bupa portion size info

I've used this in the past and found it quite helpful.
