Right i would like to lose about a stone i think.
I am 5'2 and am 9 stone. I regularly manahe to get down to 8 1/2 but never manage to stay there long.
I haven't ever really dieted before so haven't got a clue what i should be doing.
I eat too much when i am bored and the week before my period is due.
I am a size 10/12 which is o.k i know but sometimes my size 10 stuff feels way to tight.
We are going to france in June and i would like to have lost the weight by then if that is at all possible.

Any tips/ideas gratefully recienved.

Join MN Mamas.

If you want to join e-mail me at mn.bigmamas(at)virgin(dot)net. I personally find the on-line support of the other members and the weigh-in announcements a big help.

As for diets I am probably not the one to ask but I lost a stone just by cutting down on the rubbish (crisps, chocolate etc) and not joining in when the family were all having the likes of macaroni cheese for dinner, I would have a salad instead. The last few weeks I have been loosely following WW after I was very kindly giving a copy of the points.

For me the key to losing weight is a mixture of diet and exercise, neither on its own works for me but when I combine the two its starts falling off.

All the best whatever you decide.

Following the WW points (have details all on computer, not joined at all) I lost half a stone within 2 weeks, and a stone within about 8 weeks. So did DH. I found it really easy.

Been having a little break this past 2 or 3 weeks but about to restart to get rid of the next 7-14 pounds - not sure exactly how much, depends of how I feel I look as I continue with it now. I am sure the second stone will be more challenging but I have until August!

I have the feeling this is going to be hard.
The only time i have ever dieted before was when i was about 16 and then i stupidly went down to just over 7 stone.

If i can't eat bread and spuds what can i eat ??

My typical daily diet is as follows......

3 Pieces of toast or cereal with full fat milk

3 cheese sandwiches and bag of crisps

Chicken veg and spuds

In between meals i would have buscuits and crisps.

I can't give up on bread or potatoes either nutcracker.

Based on what you have put down this is my suggestion (based round WW):

Breakfast - stick to ceraels but use semi or skimmed milk

Lunch - swap sandwiches to salad with a small cub e of cheese; ideally try to work on swapping cheese to something else - maybe olives, seafood, very light cheese for sipping cucumber into, reduced cal coleslaw, lean meat slices (such as chicken, turkey, etc.)

Dinner - sounds okay but reduce amount of potatoes to just 2 or 3 small ones, or have baked potato or 2 scoops of mash (without fats and oils); make sure chicken in not fryied or done with creamy rich sauce.

And no crisps and biscuits. Really you have to try and avoid snacking at all. If you can't then choose to snack on fruit and vegetables.

Give yourself a little treat each day too - maybe a glass of wine, meringue nest and yoghurt/half fat creme fresh., etc. WW do some good range of naughties - like cake bars, etc. although I know Asda's own range is just the same number of points and cheaper.
