Title says it all apart from struggling and need company to change for better as getting very low with continually realising just how fat i have become. Feel ashamed and it makes me feel very down so could do with someone in same or similar position to help each other change from today.

Interested in joining me or better still telling me how you changed what worked long term!

Yes! Me! I am also 5'2'' and need to shift a couple of stone. Cannot seem to stick with anything and give up too easily - I really need motivation!

Hairylegs47 · 19/06/2014 07:41

Download the myfitnesspal app and add a few friends. A few of us MN have added each other, it helps a lot.

I'm 5'1 and 12 stone 5 now, I was 16 stone when I started.

Let me know your user name if you do and I'll add you if you like.

Mustgo · 19/06/2014 07:44

I am 5'1. Started out this year at 13st 9 and am now down to 11st ish. Reduced portion sizes, lots fewer carbs and lots more vegetables. Plus a bit of exercise.

Still reckon I have another stone to go but feel so much better about myself. Stick at it if you can, it's worth it!

napoleonsnose · 19/06/2014 07:53

OP you could be me! I'm an inch taller and a lb heavier. I hate myself at the moment, particularly as about four years ago I was 3 stone lighter after losing weight at Slimming World.

I'm on myfitnesspal so pm me your user name and I'll add you. I've been using it properly for about a month now, but my scales at home are crap so I don't actually know how much weigh (if any) I've lost.

Mustgo · 19/06/2014 08:18

I don't have much time for gadgets as find that i sit down working things out then filling things in and end up distracted and not getting on with trying to move and eat less. For those who use fitness pal isn't this danger possible again? Not keen on slimming clubs as again sitting around after turn to weigh drives me crazy thinking i could be moving. This is plenty. Little time due to children and work so that's why i thought of opening up here and seeking those in same boat.

I need hand holding and being told in simple terms to get on in other words someone the same or similar to encourage me and me them. Napelnose how are you losing this time just through myfitnesspal? Does it work out for you tell you what to eat? How Contraryish how are you doing it? After years of being bad feeling bad i seem to have no will power left. Ive started walking and trying to eat more good stuff and ignore bad but no difference.

Oh boy , am glad to know that am not alone in this , was actually 17 stone in September last year and due to stress am now 13 stone 8 pounds , any advice please, trying to do some exercises and wat smaller portions but I think I am eating all the wrong stuff still even though its smaller . any advice , any experiences would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

napoleonsnose · 21/06/2014 19:14

No MFP doesn't tell you what to eat, but it does have a huge database of foods so you can accurately track your calorie intake. I stick to 1500 a day - any less and I'm starving! I guess it just keeps you mindful of what you are putting in your mouth and I quite enjoy logging it each day I know, I'm a bit sad like that. You can also use home-cooked recipes and add them to built up a bank of regular meals that you eat. I've not got any accurate scales at home at the moment, but I've definitely lost as my clothes are feeling a little bit looser. I'm still toying with going back to SW as that does seem to work for me though.

beccajoh · 21/06/2014 19:17

I like MFP because it's there in black and white that if I want to eat that donut then I have no business eating dinner as well because I'll go way over my daily calories. It naturally seems to motivate me to make better food choices.

Mustgo · 24/06/2014 07:19

riacjohn i lost lots through stress last year thought i would work from that point but of course the weight piled back on as i started to be able to eat again. Not a great place to be hope the stress lessens for you.

contrayrish thats what i want to be able to do but seem to have totally lost true will power over the years of failure.

Ive tried to forget dieting and listen to the hunger but too much socialising meant that idea failed.

Wondering what MFP is off to google.

Can I join too please? I really need to shift 2 stone and finding it really hard going. have joined slimming world but not made much progress and have come to the conclusion that it's just not for me, i rarely have time to stay fir the group and it's just another pressure on my week... I can't express how annoyed I am at myself though Sad

Mustgo · 24/06/2014 07:24

So MFP is my fitness pal okay must go and look into this properly i guess. Anyone left out there? I had a busy week and no time to return hence all these postings!

guineapig1 i would say yes do but think this is proving to be like my dieting - not going very far. How are you losing weight now? I was thinking this morning to try SW again , its been years since i last did and i hated all the waiting about to be told up your exercise! Tried rosemary Conley but with the weighing and pep talk by the time the exercise started the morning was over and i can't spare all that time.
