How have I lost 5 lbs in less than a week?

Just back from Barcelona to my normal sedentary lifestyle after spending all day every day walking on holiday. 6 dys after my return I weigh 5 lb less. Just wondering how. Can you lose muscle that quickly? Period had just started last week Phap I've just been to the loo more. Long may it continue.

Lucky you! Don't question it, just enjoy it! I wish the same had happened to me, I got back after 5 days away to discover I'd gained 5lbs - seriously! How is that even possible?!! Struggling to lose it now.

Likely water weight. Your body stores about 7lbs worth of glycogen in your liver as well as some in muscle to use if you are suddenly without food or unexpected exercise. Glycogen is broken down to glucose (energy) and water. Hence when people lose a lot of weight in the first week of a diet it's called water weight. Your body will replenish this as it is a vital safety mechanism but if you continue to exercise or diet your body will adjust and break down fat stores and maybe some protein too if you over do it.

You may have lost a lb or two of fat though so well done.
