Which is better for me to lose weight?

I am wanting to lose about half a stone before I go on holiday in 5 weeks time. My question is, what would be a better and more successful idea in terms of weighloss - 5:2 or eating consistently everyday. I currently go to the gym about 3 times a week and for lunch I usually eat fruit - a banana and an apple, sometimes a packet of crisps/rice cakes etc (working conditions mean making, heating and storing a proper lunch is difficult) I can't eat sandwiches as I can't really eat bread.
For dinner, for the same reasons as my lunch, I tend to not really eat carbs so will have either homemade soup/chicken or steak and salad or salmon with rice and veg. Sometimes pasta with veg and turkey mince.
When I put my daily calories in MFP a lot of the days I'm only eating around 800cals, and I burn around 300 at the gym, so would it be more effective to do 5:2 and try and bulk out my meals a few days a week otherwise my body may go into starvation mode and cling onto the weight? I don't think I would struggle with 5:2 as I don't really get that hungry generally anyway, I only tend to eat when I'm bored.

Are you sure you need to lose weight? (It doesn't sound like it if you are eating less than 1000 calories every day.)
