Hi...has anyone any feedback in the above? I'm going to do 3 Day Detox from Monday and would be interested in your thoughts ...

I did the 5lbs in 5 days.... Lost 10 pounds and kept it off. Juice regularly now. Not so much for weightloss but health. Partners acne has cleared up.

Not got anything bad to say about it all really! Even the kids love a green juice

ForeskinHyena · 22/05/2014 22:30

I bought a juicer and the Jason Vale book from FB with the intention if doing a 3 day juice detox. I made it to 4pm on day 1 and felt like I was going to die! Think the caffeine and sugar withdrawal all in one go was too much for me! Think it was TOTM too, which probably didn't help.

I can see why it could be good, but I also hated seeing all the waste from the juicing, thinking "surely I should be eating all that fibre?!"

I will definitely try it again another time now that I've kicked the sugar habit, but my first foray into juicing was not impressive!

Mum4Fergus · 22/05/2014 22:37

Thank you! Joules, how have you maintained the approach in a day to day basis? One of his videos suggests replacing breakfast and lunch with juices then low cal dinner...how have you built it into life?

I do the healthy espresso and a juice before work.... Take a healthy lunch to work. Have a snack after work and then a juice

That works for me, but we have now purchased some bottles off the website with the intention if freezing some for work and changing it around a bit

I run and do outside bootcamp in just juice alone some days and am fine ( not ever hungry,weak... The opposite)

Joules68 · 22/05/2014 22:42

The 'waste' can be used in healthy muffins or as my friend does, feeds it to her chickens!

A good juicer should only give minimum waste anyway

Mum4Fergus · 23/05/2014 08:17

I've been wondering about the freezing element...do you just make juice up as normal and pop in freezer...? I'd like to start taking one to work for lunch,do you just let it defrost, give it a good shake then drink? Should juices be drunk immediately if not freezing or ok to put in bottle and take out with me (I've found one or two of them have started to separate)?

I thought jason Vale speaks a lot of sense (I read dd2's book) but I make my own even more healthy and filling smoothies in the morning using the seeded but unpeeled washed, seasonal organic fruit and always half a whole lemon with a couple of dates or figs. some ground almonds that makes them lovely and creamy, and on alternate days have some pumpkin seeds then linseeds . They are so filling I usually have half with a glass of water and have the rest in the evening or the next morning. I wouldn't freeze them just pop in the fridge with a cover on.

I use a stick blender so it's much less faff to clean and store. In the winter I'll use pear or apple or whatever juice and warm water.

BTW I lost 3 stone and am maintaining doing the above with the Paul mckenna.

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2014 10:10

The lemon is important because not only is it packed with vitamin C it contains antioxidants to keep the smoothie fresh and not too brown!

ForeskinHyena · 23/05/2014 10:27

So do you blend up the whole lemon, peel and all?

I much prefer the idea of smoothies to juice, they fill you up as well as giving you all the goodness. I must confess I didn't read the whole JV book - perhaps I should read a bit about it before writing it off entirely!

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2014 10:37

Yes half a whole organic lemon is tastes fab.! that's why i do use some dates or figs or whatever to get some sweetness because then it all balances out nicely!

Joules68 · 23/05/2014 14:43

His smoothies are juices.... Then blended with other things to make a 'smoothie'

Avocado is amazing

Love juices with lemon too. Even though they are 'acid' they change to alkaline in the body which is where/ want mine want to be!

Joules68 · 23/05/2014 14:44

For example, juice the apples, then blend with a banana,forest/seasonal fruits and berries, natural yogurt and a few mixed seeds.... Jason vales banana berry crunch!

MsFiremanSam · 23/05/2014 22:27

Did the 5llb in 5 days a couple of weeks ago, lost 6llb and have kept it off. Since then I've replaced breakfast with a juice every day. It feels life changing for me because it's made me educate myself about better nutrition, and I think it's something I can maintain. Just invested in a new juicer because I plan to make this a way of life - I really feel like I've got a lot more energy, my IBS is non-existent and my skin is clear. Got DH into juicing and DS (aged 3) is having one every day too.

ppeatfruit · 24/05/2014 09:16

I read that most of the vitamin C in a lemon (or any citrus fruits but I'm not good with oranges) are in the skin and pith and since using the whole lemon in my smoothies i've been well and looked good!

HermioneWeasley · 24/05/2014 09:26

I have a friend who swears by it and believes it helped her arthritis. Personally I'm not convinced - the opinion of medical nutritionists is that whole pieces of fruit and veg are better for you.

ppeatfruit · 24/05/2014 09:52

Well i find it a bit difficult to eat all the pith of a whole lemon. There are quite a few nutritionists who come out with crap IMO !!! I'm 63 and have, like your friend Hermoine, cured my arthritis by eating whole lemons (in smoothies) and NOT eating acid forming fruit like oranges and tomatoes (that cured my eczema too).

Mum4Fergus · 24/05/2014 10:15

Ok...giving it a go, nothing to lose (but a bit if weight!). Day1 of 3 Day Detox...breakfast juice delicious!

Good luck!

lucidlady · 24/05/2014 11:10

Try a Nutribullet if you are worried about waste. It blends the whole fruit. I love my spinach kale and Apple smoothies!

Mum4Fergus · 25/05/2014 15:20

Middle of Day2 and all going well...4lbs off!!

Congrats Mum4 Grin

Joules68 · 25/05/2014 19:12

keep it up!

bubalou · 25/05/2014 23:01

I've been a Jason vale 'juicer' on and off for years now. I regularly do the 3 days when I am feeling sluggish and regularly drink juices to help my health.

When I do them my skin is soon much clearer (I usually suffer from acne and cystic acne). It evens out my hunger pangs etc.

The thing I would recommend is obviously 'easing into the 3 day detox'. Don't eat lots of Chinese food and donuts one day and start this the next. Do a pre-day of healthy light food, snacks and lots of water.

Hope this helps. :)

Mum4Fergus · 26/05/2014 08:01

I did exactly that...I've not got a high income so was conscious of using up what I had in the house before starting (that said, with some savvy shopping I bought everything for less than I would pay for a takeaway!)...so by 2-3 days prior to starting I was literally down to soups!! Day3 today...
