We've been out and about today and I've just seen some pictures of myself. I've been kidding myself that I look just like I did before DD (18m) and that the extra stone and a half is just due to breastfeeding.

I'm so disgusted in myself. I have no self control what so ever. I feel like if I've not lost it yet, I never will.

Well done you! I managed to fast okay yesterday and I have fasted today. Ran both days too, which is great! I'm in my danger period right now - starving and not due to hand dinner for another hour!

How far/long did you run for. I managed a pitiful 3k in 30 min. 25 min of steady running and then 5 min of interval sprinting.

My next fast in tmrw and I'm aiming for liquids only, so tea and soup mainly. And water of course.

Hold on in there, not long til dinner. I've done back to back fasts before and find them hard. Do you fast 2 days a week or more?

Elfina · 20/05/2014 19:53

That's not pitiful at all if you've not run for a while. I run 5K on Mondays and Tuesdays. I plan to fast on Tuesdays and Thursdays as a rule, but I thought I would take advantage of feeling like rubbish to kick stay myself this week. Managed to hold out til dinner, so really pleased!

How are you doing it, btw? I'm not sticking to 500kcals as I'm still breastfeeding a fair amount and I find it too tricky, so am just having my normal dinner and no "treats"! I'm sure it's around 500kcal, but I'm not going to worry about it too much.

Are you aiming to lose much?

I want to lose a stone. Like you I'm fairly flexible. So I'm not having my morning cuppa until about 3pm and then a v small portion of dinner at night. Yesterday it was half an omelette with half a toasted wholemeal pitta.

Will you do 3 fasts or 2 this week? I'm doing 2 but in Thursday I will try and really watch my intake. Weigh in on Saturday. Today was a nfd but I did ok no brekkie, then two w/m pittas filled with salad and a bit of mayo for lunch, packet of crisps, cuppa tea. Dinner was two pears and a cuppa with a small biscuit as I was a bit tired. I did have a small bowl of one weetabix with hot milk just now as I was starving. It's been an odd eating day, but hoping to fall into a better rhythm this week.

Do you run only mon and tues? I'm aiming for 3 runs and one long walk per week. I hope you're not feeling rubbish today.

Elfina · 20/05/2014 20:48

Gosh, you don't eat very much?? Do you not normally have a proper dinner?

No, I run an easy recovery 5K Mon, 5K Tue (interval) 10K Thursday, then either a long run or hill session at the weekend.

And I will aim for three fasts this week. I find it easy on work days as I'm so busy anyway.

I realised I was at right at the top of the "normal" BMI for my height and I was just over a stone where I wanted to be. I have never dieted or even watched what I ate but late thirties it dawned I can't get away with that anymore! This is what I did:

Cut right down on snacks. Used to have biscuits every day with tea/coffee now I don't

Eat dinner off a breakfast toast plate effect is my portions halved. Felt hungry at first but now appetite shrunk

Do my Davina exercise DVDs 4 times a week. Get up half an hour earlier do it before you shower, then shower job done.

Lost and kept off just over a stone

cheekygeeky · 20/05/2014 22:33

Oh yes I normally have a normal dinner but today was one of those weird days where my appetite went from ravenous to non existent. On fast days I tend to not have a proper dinner but rather something like an omelette or a salad.

Your running sounds amazing, I'm surprised that you gained any weight with running and bf.
Kerala congrats on your loss. I'm not a snacker thank god but I do need to cut down my portions.

Good luck tmrw elfina, enjoy your nfd.

Elfina · 21/05/2014 16:21

Hmm, well the fact that I gained weight probably tells you how much I eat! How's your FD going?

OP, you note up thread that you are very tired. That is something you really need to get sorted. I know it can be very difficult with little kids, mine didn't sleep through the night before they were 2! But lack of sleep can have a negative effect, not only does it makes it hard for you to make the right food choices, it can also lead to weight gain. Could you go to bed an hour earlier?

cheekygeeky · 21/05/2014 17:55

I suffered with fatigue too. Turns out I was anaemic. Have you had yourself checked out?

Fast day going ok but I've been picky today. Had some lentil soup and bread for dinner and went for a run this morning.

Elfina · 21/05/2014 20:20

My tiredness is caused by DD, and DD alone, unfortunately! She doesn't sleep well, and I need to be up at 5:45am for work, and I often need to work in the evening once she's finally gone down. She wakes up several times in the night.

Are you calorie counting on fast days, cheeky? I'm going to fast again tomorrow, I think. Unexpected bonus is that I've saved loads of money not buying food and drinks at work Smile

Oh your day sounds really manic. In fact mine was the same a few years ago. Had a crazy manic job which left me with little te to juggle everything else. In the end I took time out as my health was starting to suffer.

I'm trying to calorie count on fast days but I'm pretty useless! I try to stick to water, one or two cups of tea and a small dinner. I find the later I eat in the day the easier it is. I also try not to eat after 6pm.

Elfina · 21/05/2014 22:18

Yeah, that sounds similar to my set up. How was your fast today,xx
