2lb a week is reasonable for steady weight loss. Apparantly the more steady and consistent you keep your weight loss, the more likely it is to stay off.

pesme · 28/08/2006 12:34

thanks, that sounds reasonable but god i wish i could just pee it out or something its soooo hard!

1 to 2lbs a week .. and sometimes 0 but the next week makes up for it

AnelaSunshine · 28/08/2006 12:44

Pesme, that's exactly me too! I'm 12.5 and 5.8 too and I've managed to lose 4-5lbs since 31 July but then managed to put it all back on again in a bad week this week.
Our 10% of our weight goal - is to 11st 2. This would make such a difference to me. What are you doing? I'm just trying to eat sensibly but my weaknesses are coffee, pesto and mayonnaise.
I also need to get off my 12 stone butt and exercise but live in a top floor flat so conscious that my neighbours don't want to listen to me heffalumping around doing Davina McCall's workout!

pesme · 28/08/2006 12:50

hi nice to hear someone else is in the same boat (obv not nice for you). trying to eat sensiblely but cuting out bread as much as poss. no cheese, having porridge for breakfast as that seems to help me all day. am toying with joining the local gym but don't know if i will ever have time to go. i have some old ww books so if all else fails i will go onto using points. 11st 2 would be lovely as i need to fit back into various clothes for winter as i am too broke to buy new clothes plus i can't bring myself to buy 'fat' clothes.

thanks twiglett will bear that in mind.

is it really that bad to drink coffee?

OP posts:
AnelaSunshine · 28/08/2006 13:02

It's not that it's bad to drink coffee, just that it's more dairy (even though I drink semi skimmed) and not water. It's good because it often works as an appetite suppressant. but also gives me cellulite.

I too am trying to give up bread but not doing brilliantly with it. When I got down to 11st before my wedding 4 years ago it was through giving up wheat as it restricts the snacks you can eat so massively but it's not good to completely remove a whole food group like that I don't think.

Perhaps I should try and avoid cheese too.

I KNOW I won't go to the gym, it's practically opposite my house and I didn't get when I was a member. Find the gym really dull and unmotivating.

Well, I'll drop in here to see how we're doing, how does that sound?

pesme · 28/08/2006 13:06

cool, how about a thursday weigh in? i know what you mean about the gym but i do like swimming.

Hi Pesme
Sorry have only just seen this but it is Thursday!
I am now 12 stone 3.5lb -
(but have had breakfast)
My plan for the week ahead is to not snack between meals unless on fruit or veg and to try and drink more water and less coffee. How about you?

Hello Pesme and Anelasunshine! Can I just ask (but you don't have to answer!) what clothes size you are at the moment? It's just that I'm 5'8" and my target weight is 12.5 stone!! I've got just over 2 stone to go and can't imagine ever being any lighter than 12.5 - in fact I haven't got under 13 stone since I was a teenager.... So just wondering what kind of clothes size you are so I know what I'm aiming for!

pesme · 03/09/2006 19:36

hi, depends on teh shop. i think i am probably hovering about 16 but in h&m i am and 18. also depends on your shape, i am all bum and tum but am still 32 chest. infact i look quite odd hence the determination to lose weight. good luck with the dieting. i am feeling better already.

Hi
Just seen this - I've not been very well today and been really manic and not really MNetting v much.
Don't mind you asking Dotty - I'm a 14/16 bottom and a 12/14 top. Watching Gillian McKeith and Ian Wright on obese kids on Channel 4 isn't helping. Really need to get my arse in gear.
