Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Well done Hampton! 5 lbs is great, keep going :-)

Iamnotanugget · 31/07/2014 22:57

I've moved out of my maternity clothes but now hardly have anything to wear. I'm reluctant to buy many new clothes as I feel really confident I've finally cracked how to eat properly and so, fingers crossed, anything I buy now will be too big soon.

I've lost 18lb in total since I started this. I still have a long way to go.

Well done hampton.

ScienceRocks · 01/08/2014 08:35

Hello everyone. Hope you don't mind me joining to ask if anyone has used the Thin app? I am on day 3 but have not yet put in a response other than "overwhelmed" and keep falling asleep when I listen to the hypnotic trance. Should I give up or keep going? I have about a stone and a half to lose Sad

PoirotsMoustache · 01/08/2014 10:05

Hello all. May I join you, please? I've been dieting for over 20 years, and last year reached my biggest and heaviest ever, so it's obviously not working! Grin

I am so sick and tired of watching what I eat, whether it be measuring, weighing, adding points/syns or avoiding food groups. I didn't last even a week on the low-carb bootcamp last week Blush I just want to be able to eat what I want, when I want, and not feel guilty afterwards. I suspect if I can change my relationship with and view of food, I can eat like a 'normal' person and the weight will slowly go. I am definitely an emotional eater, I use food as a reward or a comfort, and I have been in the habit of seeing food as either 'good' or 'bad' for most of my life.

I did have the I Can Make You Thin book and CD, and it may be laying around in a drawer somewhere, so I'll see if I can dig it out and try it in earnest.

Iamnotanugget · 01/08/2014 11:39

poirot I've got the gastric band book and am finding weight lose quick and easy. I've found I've really changed my relationship with food. The other night I did eat a load of biscuits and I enjoyed every one but usually I'm perfectly satisfied with 3 healthy meals a day. I love there's no points or weighing and I know I really can eat what I want not a close approximation like on calorie diets or a teeny exactly measured portion like on sw or ww. Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

PoirotsMoustache · 01/08/2014 11:48

Iamnotanugget Thank you for replying! That is really encouraging - it's exactly what I want in fact. Just to eat whatever I fancy without feeling guilty over half a packet of crisps, or bingeing on a six-pack of crisps because the diet starts tomorrow!

Plus, it'd be nice to eat healthy food because I want to, not because I have to. For example, I love salads, but get sick of them because when I'm dieting I have them every day. So when I'm not dieting, I don't have them as I'm busy stuffing myself with 'bad' food.

Oh, to feel free from food worries - that is my only dream right now Grin

hamptoncourt · 01/08/2014 14:47

Poirot it does sound like the plan would suit you.

I cannot believe how well it has worked for me. I am someone who can eat HUGE portions of food and I now struggle to clear my plate, which I always did before. I now find I am full on far less food.

I have listened to the cd every single day, and I do fall asleep sometimes, or drift in and out of listening, but I am sure that has helped.

Whilst on the plan I have eaten "proper" chips, cake, brownies, cheesecake, steak, butter, biscuits, fish and chips, all things that would normally be "banned" but I can have them as I can only eat one very small slice of cake/cheesecake/whatever and I am satisfied.

I have only eaten one packet of crisps in the 2 weeks when normally I would have a pack every day.

Not drinking alcohol ( you can if you really have to) has really helped me too I think, and I think for me my drinking was part of my emotional eating/reward feelings, so listening to the cd and having affirmation that I can deal with my feelings without resorting to food or alcohol has been really helpful to me.

Sorry for the essay, hope it helps. I am truly amazed how easy I have found it.

Solo · 01/08/2014 15:12

Welcome Science and Poirot :)

I haven't used the app, but I think some of the ladies that have been here in the past have. I'm not sure how it was for them, but I can say that falling asleep is fine! it still goes in, so will still work.

No food is a banned or bad food, but we all know what is considered a healthy or not so healthy food. I'm sure you all also feel as I do in that if I'm not allowed a food stuff, I want it more, then go crazy on it (and feel dreadfully guilty afterwards). So, nothing is banned and the only real rules are that you truly listen to your body about whether you are really hungry or not, and eat - chewing 20 times minimum each mouthful, tasting and 'feeling' what is in your mouth each and every time. Admire yourself (body) in the mirror which is really hard to do, but gets easier and you do start to see positive points about yourself and it helps you to love yourself and your body too.

Drink water and if you aren't sure you are actually hungry or feel that you shouldn't be hungry 'yet' then have a drink instead and reassess your hunger pangs 20 minutes (give or take) later. I found that drinking a Galaxy Instant Hot Chocolate is quite filling and satisfying and curbs my appetite.
Listen to your tummy when it's telling you that it's full. My full signal is that I give an involuntary sigh. You can put it in the fridge and eat it the next time you are hungry if you don't want to throw it away.
Also, leave a spoonful of your meal on your plate at the end. I found this very hard because of the way I was brought up, but can do it quite easily now.
Keep posting and reading on this thread.
Listen to the trance as often as you can.

PoirotsMoustache · 01/08/2014 15:34

hampton and Solo, thank you. I definitely think this is the way to go, it sounds very sensible and much more 'natural', if that makes sense.

I will struggle with chewing everything 20 times, and it'll be really tough to be nice to myself in the mirror, but I will do it anyway.

Thank you again.

Solo · 01/08/2014 15:37

It gets easier Poirot all of it gets easier! just keep focused on it and post regularly on here ~ even the bad bits or negative bits. We keep one another jogging along and encourage each other! :)

Thank you, I will do. You all seem so lovely, it's such a nice thread Smile

Fubsy · 01/08/2014 17:45

I've been using the app which has been helpful, but I have only lost a few pounds and tbh that was probably more due to the d&v I had this week!

I saw the gastric band book was available as an introductory offer for Audible, so I've done that. However all I've got is a short intro which says to read the instructions first, then the hypnosis track. Is there more to it - it did say I would get an instruction download as well but I can't find it. If I'd bought a hard copy would it be a book and CD like PMcK's other books?

ScienceRocks · 01/08/2014 19:28

Thank you, I will keep plugging away Smile

TillyWilly · 01/08/2014 23:05

I bought some hot chocolate the other day Solo. I forgot about it so I shall use that when im feeling like something sweet but don't know what I want.
Im doing ok. Funny that you give a little "sigh" and know that this is your body telling you that it has had enough Solo. I get a little heartburn pain and that is my signal that I am satisfied and don't need any more. I feel it and I say to myself, "I am done". he he.

TillyWilly · 01/08/2014 23:05

That's with the gastric band thing.

Solo · 02/08/2014 03:40

Fubsy I don't know about that introductory offer, but the 'normal' one has the book, cd and dvd.
I'm trying out the gastric band one now.

Fubsy · 02/08/2014 08:43

Thanks. I've had an email from them to say I might be missing it because I'm using a tablet not a computer, so I'm going to have a look on my laptop.

gunsandbanjos · 02/08/2014 08:49

Morning guys, had a better week at work so managed a lunch hour which was good! Not weighed myself but I feel better, less bloated. I'm trying not to weigh myself as I get a little obsessive which isn't good!

hamptoncourt · 02/08/2014 10:56

I find if I listen to the cd every day I don't need to weigh myself. I have convinced myself that if I break the rules and weigh myself it will undo all the good work I have done and I won't have lost any weight at all Grin

I had a lovely cooked brekkie this morning - really fancied it but ate about half what I normally would.

Am going for a walk to exercise some of it off too.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Solo · 02/08/2014 12:18

Oh well that is good news Fusby at least you know for sure and know to search for it :)

Excellent guns! it's definitely how you feel. I'm feeling more comfortable because that fat roll that is mentioned above has reduced and my bra's are more comfortable!

Hampton I'm loving the cooked breakfast idea! I haven't had one of those at home in years!!!

Keep up the good and positive work ladies and keep posting! :) it's so nice and encouraging all round.

Happy, positive and conscious eating weekend everyone!!

I ought to give PMcK another try.
Where's Milly? I haven't seen her for a while but perhaps has NC and I missed it?

MillyDots · 03/08/2014 13:18

Im still here, reading the thread to keep me motivated. Doing ok but finding it hard to lose any more weight. I don't gain but don't lose either. Im obviously eating more than I need. Having said that once you hit the menopause it really is sooooo much harder to actually lose weight. When your younger you think that people just use it as an excuse but, no, it definitely is much harder.
Who are you then Sinfandel? Smile

Glad your better Solo Smile

hamptoncourt · 03/08/2014 13:56

I agree with milly re the menopause. I also thought it was just an excuse but I really have struggled to lose the weight this time and I do think my metabolism has ground to a halt.

Doing this has been an absolute Godsend.

MillyDots · 03/08/2014 18:05

I feel mine has stopped working so well too Hampton. I read that after the menopause you need fewer calories something like 1500 . I think if you listen to your body and only eat when truly hungry and stop as soon as your satisfied then you don't take in all that many calories to be honest. I know I don't. Its when I eat without thinking that I overeat. If I think about it and do the do (PM) then Im good.

mrsmilesmatheson · 03/08/2014 21:32

Hi everyone, I'm planning in doing this plan.

I'm a teacher and really want to sort out my relationship with food over these summer holidays.

I keep trying to start slimming world as a colleague has lost loads recently doing it and looks Fab.

Trouble is, the thought of following the plan and eating "free" food just really doesn't appeal.

I think I've had a dodgy relationship with food since I was a teenager and badly bullied at school. I feel like my eating really out of control and I don't know when I'm full. I eat when I'm not hungry and when I'm eating I feel both truly happy and truly miserable at the same time.

I need to lose at least 2 stone but more importantly I need to stop using food to make me feel better.

I have low self esteem and have suffered with depression in the past but I do genuinely want to be slim and happy.

Any tips?
