Iam classed as obese and at the moment I feel depressed as well regarding my health.

I am worried I am seriously ill because I feel I have so many pains.I also have a coil fitted and am having lots of tummy pains, pelvic pain, back pain.

I feel tired all the time and my muscles ache even going up the stairs.

Is this my obesity or is there more to it?

Nemo1977 · 26/08/2006 21:43

Also obese morbidly so...am lucky that bp etc is not affected yet. I do worry about having a heartattack and leaving my kids with no mum.
sometimes I am ok but have horrendous periods. Can ache in back a lot due to huge boobs. Hoping to loose weight after I have this baby as I start on a diet etc then get pregnant and am on 4th pregnancy in 3yrs which isnt helping.

mumofthreebeauties · 26/08/2006 21:51

Could we help each other?

Come and join the BigMoFo's, it's for poeple like us who have a serious weight problem (hint my BMI is 42)

It's meant to a safe place to talk about weight loss, how we deal with food, long term dieting and how to cope with it etc.

suejonez · 26/08/2006 22:12

We have one or two pregant ladies who are not actively diet but stay to chat.

Nemo1977 · 26/08/2006 22:16

mumofthreebeauties · 26/08/2006 22:28

Thank you suejonez.

I will check it out. You must be exhausted nemo!

I had a three year old and then twins and i think my weight and depression made it very difficult.

I'm off to bed now but will check in tomorrow.

BudaBabe · 27/08/2006 07:09

Obese here too - over 16 stone.

No pain. BP normal. Feel fine.

Can't blame pregnancies has only DS is now 5.

Just eat and drink too much and don;t exercise. Having said that a number of people have commented recetnly that I don't eat large portions - would routinely leave more on my plate than my skinny friends. I do snack a lot though.

Am about to try WW again but living aboad I can't get to meetings and can't join on-line as overseas - hoping to get around that one somehow.

Although I feel fine now I do worry about the health implications and I HATE not being able to buy nice clothes.
I want to get down to an 18 (currently a 24) as even being a 18 there is so much more choice in clothes.

schneebly · 27/08/2006 07:19

Me too - BMI 37. I have been on big MoFos and was doing well until I found out I was pg and started stuffing my face. I am no longer pg so need to get started again. I am going away for 4 days on Monday and only option will be eating out so will re-start when I come back. Physically I am lucky that my blood pressure, cholesterol etc are all good but I do feel tired all the time and if I have to rush for a bus or something I get out of breath quite easily. I don't want to end up with all the same health problems as my MIL - she has type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholestorol and aching joints all because of being overweight and having an unhealthy lifestyle. Also my Mum died of stomach cancer which can be linked to an unhealthy diet and I don't want to die when I am 43 like she did. I need to do something. Would reccomend MoFos to everyone - they are fab.

justamum · 27/08/2006 15:54

already on mofos but thought i'd add my piece, i am 5'4 and about 15.10, i can't blame it on my last pregnancy as i only (only-haha)weighed about 13.0 after having dd in April. I can only say that i have found everything really difficult with 2 of them and have totally comfort ate as a result. I have never had any health problems related to my weight and sailed through both pgs without so much of a hint at high bp or diabetes. however i have recently developed pain in my left heel & foot that is apparently related to pregnancy and excess weight and it is really getting me down as i used to walk a lot which at least kept me fit if not slim and now i don't even enjoy doing that. i recently went to the dr for help on diet but she told me not to worry until i stop bf which will hopefully be a long time off, although i am intending to go back to her when dd is weaned and eating 3 meals a day. i think at that point i should be perfectly ok to reduce my calories and not affect the bf.
mumofthree, i alweays feel tired too, although i'm not sure how much of that is parr for the course with small children and how much is weight related, my dd doesn't always sleep through and i feel like i am constantly trying (and failing)to catch up on sleep.

Hi Mumofthreebeauties (and everyone else!)
I am morbidly obese (not a nice term) at over 21 stone (53.2 BMI) I do ache. I have big boobs and a big bot and somewhere inbetween is a spine that is trying to keep it all in place!

I get swollen feet/ankles, back pain, knee pain and painful heels.

I know it is all weight related. My B/P is fine, much to everyone's astonishment!

I have 3 kids (2.5, 5 and 10) and find it hard to organise myself or motivate myself to do any exercise.

I have days of activity followed by days of recovery.......anyone else relate with this pattern?

I have had an underactive thyroid since I was a teenager and know that some of my 'depression/apathy' is due to the condition.
If you are concerned, mention it to your gp and they will do a blood test.

take care.
