I'm seriously pleased to report that after about two weeks of comfort eating I weigh 11 3, which is just two pounds heavier than when I started this. Definitely off to the pool tomorrow!

Good luck everyone for this week.

Where is everyone?

I lost 3lbs so I'm down to 11 exactly! Seriously chuffed with myself. I swan 2.5 miles last week and I'm already up to 1.5 this week, hoping to do another two miles by end of week, desperate to break the 11 stone barrier.

Ok - I am back in.
I weighed myself last friday and I was horrified to see that my weight has gone up to 10st11.
That means I have put on about 4lbs (which I had recently lost!)

I have been good all week so far and am weighing myself on Friday.
I have acquired a pedometer and have joined some work program with colleagues to do 10 000 steps a day (either walking or other exercise)

Well done Somanybabyseagulls! Keep it up!

Anyone and everyone welcome FB. I'm going away for Christmas so that's my incentive, would love a sexy little dress for crimbo (possible reward for shifting the lard). Good luck.

I need to make a public (here) decision to start tomorrow to do better with losing weight. I found I was very addicted to sugar. I'm sure that is so but rather than eating less I've been eating more ...talk about self awareness. The gradual weaning off it whilst establishing 3 meals a day didn't really work so far. 3 meals a day did however so that's not bad but no weight loss.

So renewed determination tomorrow. Perhaps I'll go cold turkey as the gradual coming off of sugar hasn't worked. One pound a week would be great as I only need to lose about 1 - 1.5 stone.

cinderelly · 14/09/2006 23:01

havent read full thread, but just wanted to say, I am now the proud owner of a body which is 6lb lighter after doing Atkins for a week. Yeeeeeeeeeha! Hard, but worth it. Got loads of energy aswell. do it do it do it

Jahan · 15/09/2006 08:33

Ooh all the best Flumpybumpy - hope it all goes well for Saturday(or perhaps already has?!)

Well done Cinderelly.
I always find that I have more energy when dieting and feel really lethargic when I eat junk so I really don't know why I do it.

Try cold turkey Xenia and see how you go.
I know its not exactly the same thing, but I gave up smoking 3yrs ago by going cold turkey. Weaning off definitely did not work. I didn't use patches or anything.
Well done for establishing the meals.

I have been good all week - eating 3 sensible meals and snacking on fruit. For some reason, I have got constipated. Its also coming up to that time of the month so I am not expecting to see a weight loss this week but shall report back later after my weigh in.

Jahan · 15/09/2006 13:41

2lbs lost

whoopsfallenoveragain · 15/09/2006 13:47

Hello - sorry been a bit away from here!
Hi Somanybabyseaguls - how are you?
I'm still doing ok still losing weight even though I've had a crap week and eaten that way too!
Well done everyone else

Judy1234 · 15/09/2006 17:13

Thanks jahan... worked until now 5.15pm - then stress or sugar addiction has made me get chocolate. May be that's better than mid morning and after lunch though...

Somanybabyseagulls · 15/09/2006 17:27

Hi Whoops, things going well. Lost 3lb last week and have seriously got the exercise bug. 2.5 miles last week and this, might start cycling as well.

Glad to hear you are doing well, still a gym bunny!

Well done Xenia and somanybabyseagulls.

Weekends are always when I am at my weakest so I am really going to try hard to stick with my diet and do some execise.

Judy1234 · 16/09/2006 14:59

Your encouragement was too soon.... I'll have to do better tomorrow instead. The addiction to sugar is hard to break.

westerngirl · 17/09/2006 21:49

Oh dear,

Just found out my will of iron and self discipline is not because of strength of character and determination but because I have not been tempted. Was really in my grove with ww on one side and exercise on the other. 20 AND A HALF pounds since june 28th, steady. Then my brother visits for just one night and day bringing farmers market goodies and I have unleashed my inner beast. Had delicious duck pie for dinner last night, with wine and spiced muffin. Had rich quiche for lunch today with gorgeous banana cake (2 slices) and am now scoffing heroes, losing count. Will I ever get back on track again? Does everyone take a break every now and then or have i fallen off the wagon? Was beginning to feel human again.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 17/09/2006 21:59

I think we all hae a break from time to time! I went for a chinese meal last night for a friends birthday and had loads of stuff that wasn't good for me!!
I think if you don't have it you stray more so go with what is there at the time & work a little harder to burn it off! hence I have just been at the gym for over an hour!

westerngirl · 17/09/2006 22:36

hi whoops, good to get perspective on this. just feel out of control, but of course it's the general habits ( like usual meals and habitual exercise) that has most impact. Have stopped scoffing heroes!!! Have started running on treadmill and am taking swimming lessons. See that you swim. Am so envious. Love watching 'real' swimmers. Maybe when a few endorphins are released tomorrow at sports centre, 'can do' attitude will be resurrected. Guess it's a marathon, not a sprint.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 17/09/2006 22:43

I feel out of control sometimes -usually when I get in from work & can't be bothered to cook so the take aways always seem like the easier option!
I love swimming and would love to get lessons to become a better swimmer although I was a lifeguard I have never had a lesson and would probably swim a whole lot better if my technique was right!
I have also started using a smaller plate so that my smaller portions don't look ridiculous on our plates as the ones we have are quite big!
like you say it is a marathon not a sprint so having the odd bad day because you've got guests shouldn't matter or you would end up feeling more guilty that you didn't join in with them properly!
