is there such thing as a 'greedy gene'

I think I have it, as does my Df (70), and DS (5). All of us do not have a 'stop' button, we cannot resist 'goodies' if in the house, at parties always trying to get the best food on the plate and scrabbling for seconds, cannot stop at one cake etc. None of us are overweight, but we are all greedy. My DS only ever has meltdowns due to food (want of it). My Df grew up in rations and I think was a greedy child as a consequence. Random thought but has this re-set our genes to make him anf his decendants more greedy? If relevant, we are all the first born.
