And today I weighed myself on 2 sets of scales - one in the gym and one in the changing rooms and there was a stone and half difference!

Which would you go by?

Blimey Whoops, that's so impressive. What do you mean by a workout, what exactly do you do at the gym? Been toying with the idea of joining one, just have no idea what you do there apart from bikes and rowers!

whoopsfallenoveragain · 10/08/2006 15:28

I tend to walk for a bit (not built for running!!) the bike for 10 mins then crosstrainer for as long and I can cope with! then a few weights for my arms & shoulders.

I have been a member of the gyms before and always find that paying the fees motivates me to go to it than if I paid each time I went

well done whoops. but you need to keep it up.
also, dont go too much as your body needs the rest as well.

re the scales. i always goes by whichever one says less.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 10/08/2006 15:33

Stitch that was exactly what I was going to do!!

I know my body needs a rest but I would like to alternate swimming from a workout as I have about 8 stone to shift!!

I aim to go 5 times a week otherwise I would end up in front of the telly everynight on the sofa!

whoops, 8 stone????????///
have yo seen a doctor before starting your regime?
what about diet??

whoopsfallenoveragain · 11/08/2006 06:20

Yes the doctor organised for me to do a gp referal type gym thing but I didn't like the gym as I felt it was very cramp and dirty. (sorry the snobbish part of me coming out!!)
Although I'm quite big I'm fairly fit anyway as I play hockey twice a week 10 months of the year
I am also watching what I eat. when I was at college I was taking part in some sort of sport at least once a day but still was quite big.
According to guidelines for my height I should weigh about 8 stone but I could never imagine weighing that!
I would likke to get to about 12 stone which actually is only losing 5 stone for me!

I would pick one as your usual check point and go by that. I recently joined a gym and the body fat scales and the gym scales were different so I figured I would just wait until my 8 week progress check and go by the body fat ones again.

I go three times a week and do 15minutes brisk walk on small incline, 10 minutes on the bike, 10 minutes rowing. Then do some squats using the big balls, abdominal squeezes - rather stange things, some lat weights and some chest presses.
