I really need some help. I've been exercising and eating low carb/ eating clean since enforce Christmas and I've only list about 5 pounds. It's really frustrating as the inches are not coming off either so I feel all my hard work is for nothing. This evening I got fed up, skipped the exercise and tucked into nachos and now feel awful. I'm breastfeeding my 11 month old dd so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with not loosing weight or inches. My waist and hip measurements are just ridiculous!! I'm so tired as well because of night feeds and even so I'm pushing myself to train in the evenings. What can I do? I have a whole wardrobe of size 10 that I need to fit into as i don't want to buy a whole new wardrobe lol.
Sorry for the moan just don't know where I'm going wrong really.

I didn't really lose any weight until I stopped breast feeding, but admittedly, I wasn't trying very hard.

As soon as I stopped feeding the baby (when he was about 18 months) I lost about a stone and a half, without changing what I ate or exercising.

I'd have thought five pounds since Christmas was OK though, isn't that what the diet types aim for, a couple of pounds a week?

What sort of exercise are you doing? And what is your clean low carb diet like?

I never lost any weight breastfeeding, I have been told that as long as you are breastfeeding your body tries to keep reserves up so that if there is a famine, there will still be something left for baby to survive on. I don't know if that's true or not. I lost weight fairly easily when I stopped though.

I have no idea what a clean low carb diet is, sorry.

For a lot of women it's a total myth that breast feeding helps you lose weight. There is a good section about it in The Best Friends Guide To Pregnancy book. Something about your hormones/body etc being designed to keep your baby alive so extra fat stores are maintained to ensure your milk supply. Sounds like the previous posters have experienced something similar!

5 pounds since Xmas is a good weigh loss

Lizzylou · 16/01/2014 06:01

Another one here who struggled to lose weight whilst breastfeeding.
5lbs since Christmas is a good loss though!
Just keep on, drink lots of water, perhaps start a new/ shake upmyour exercise routine. Are you on myfitnesspal, am sure they allow for breastfeeding, as do slimmers world/weightwatchers.
Perhaps a change in approach my reinvigorate you? please don't get disheartened.

Hi there cupcakemummy I have an 8 month old DD2 and while I only put on 2 stone while pregnant my body - despite exercise (i run weight train and do yoga) - has stubbornly held on to the last half stone. With DD1 I lost all 4 stone within 5 months but this time round I am still breastfeeding her. My weight has stuck around my lower middle and a light amount all over. I've never had a weight problem and am not worried about this too much - but I think it must be the body has to keep a reserve. I would keep up with the healthy eating and exercise and enjoy feeding your little one. 11 months is still early days x
