Not going to follow a diet like WW or slimming world etc as they are all too far to travel and interent group - I'd cheat!

So I'm cutting out the rubbish, no binge eating and up the exercise. Today's menu:-

Breakfast - 1 pack of Walkers French Fries (I know - I was in a rush!)

Lunch - tuna & cucumber sandwich on wholemeal, bunch of grapes.

Dinner - roasted peppers with couscous

Not ideal, but is it ok-ish?!

Sounds pretty low in calories MamaG - I am fat but have done a lot of reading about diets! I suppose if you had a good brekafast and a coupe of snacks you would be doing pretty well. Example..

Breakfast - Muesli and Yoghurt
Fruit Juice

Lunch - tuna & cucumber sandwich on wholemeal, bunch of grapes.

Snack - Banana and small hadful nuts/seeds

Dinner - roasted peppers with couscous

Evening snack - crudited and hummous?

Any good? Also are you doing any exercise?

schneebly · 26/07/2006 13:51

crudited = crudites

MamaG · 26/07/2006 13:53

Sounds yum - I have been running (once!) but it was more run a bit, walk a bit, run a bit etc IYKWIM but I hope to go again tonight. It's SO hot though innit!!

Thanks for reply.

(did you see I invited you to my dinner party on the "ultimate MN dinner party" thread)

Tbh although it sounds ok, it's probably not going to make you feel full and hence you amy be tempted to snack. I think you may need some extra protein, Schneebly's idea of hoummus is a good one.

MamaG · 26/07/2006 13:55

Yeah I like hummous. I need to re-think all my eating i think - I do ok, have a pretty good diet, no snacks then BINGE ! I'm cutting out the binging, but do you think I need to start snacking?

Sorry if this sounds silly, really think I need to re-educate myself.

MamaG - you have no idea how delighted I am! I think that is the first time I have been mentioned on one of those thingies! Thanks. I couldn't run in this weather (or at all! ) What I can manage is swimming - cools you off and you feel lovely and fresh afterwards - we have just got a new swimming pool - have been without for years! You have made me fancy cous cous now!

schneebly · 26/07/2006 13:58

healthy snacks are a big help - really. I am rubbish but find that if I prepare some crudites and a fresh fruit salad and just have them in the fridge then I will eat them rather than seeking out rubbish!

apronstrings · 26/07/2006 14:01

wow is that all you ate? no picking in between!

A few years ago I lost 30lbs - and give or take 5 lbs or so from time to time I have kept it off. I think that food is fine for a good day - but not very sustainable. you will have to allow yourself some treats. I think the really key things for me were portion control, cutting out the crap binging and just as you plan upping the exercise. I have never been a gym girl - but started not parking as close as poss. always going back up or down stairs when i had forgotten things etc. walking whenever it was practical. Also a habit my family all laugh at me for - if I am for example waiting for the kettle, or watching the dinner I will do leg raises or arm exercises etc.

Good luck. I am on another kick atm as I have got back into some bad habits.

my dp is a vet.

In the vet world a lot of work is diet related.
The concencus of opinion is that any diet should be alternated with 'full fat' weeks so that metabolism does not shut down and store fat. I do believe it works!
