Who here has ever been on a diet?

All these diet threads, I'm curious - can I ask the mn collective

  • how old are you now? have you ever dieted? If so, when did you do it and how?
  • did you lose weight? If so, how much and were you happy with the result, was it as you expected?
  • did you maintain your weight following the diet, by which I mean for at least 12-24 months? If so, how do you believe you achieved this? If not, how much weight did you regain?
  • what are your thoughts/opinions of diets now?

  • how old are you now? 33
  • did you lose weight? I lost 4 stone of pregnancy weight. Two stone lost doing the tesco diet, another doing WW and the last doing myfitnesspal.
  • did you maintain your weight following the diet, by which I mean for at least 12-24 months? Yes this was a good two years ago, before I put the wieght on I was always very thin but my actual diet was terrible. Tescos and WW taught me portion size and the right things to eat and myfitnesspal enabled me to work it all out myself in order to maintain it.
  • what are your thoughts/opinions of diets now? Not great, esp WW is a huge money making company which practically encourage unhealthy habits but selling products packed with sweetners etc. They are useful for losing what you need to lose but it was mostly my own research into what is actually healthy that has enabled me to keep it off.
