Good motivation or just a very very bad idea?

Hi guys, over the last 18 months I've put on about a stone in weight due to stress and busy life so starting tomorrow I'm low carbing and doing pilates and the shred and I'm aiming to get back to my pre-DC weight and figure.

Now I'm going to a wedding in July and I'm just starting to look for dresses, I've a few online and I'm tempted to buy one in a size 10 (currently a 12) to make sure I have something to work towards.

Has anyone done this before? Is it good to motivate you or is it doomed for failure?

I'm not sure that it's a great idea, even if you get down to the size you want to be (or even smaller) there's no guarantee that your shape will be the same and/or that the dress will suit your 'new' size.

My advice would be to either pick out some treats that you will get for yourself along the way (cosmetics, new underwear, beauty treatments, new exercise gear...) to keep you motivated or to commit to putting some money aside for every pound you lose so that you can buy a fantastic dress for the wedding (21lb x 10 could be a £200+ outfit?).

I did this quite recently, had six weeks or so to get into a dress which was about half a size too small. I did it Jo problem, though the pressure was on, so to speak, and I probably had fewer calories each day than I am comfortable with (say about 1200, which is not sustainable or sensible for me). It worked though.

If one dress size = about eleven pounds, in theory it should be easy for you in the time you have. I can see two things happening m: either it might not be motivating enough until a month before, then you may be encouraged to crash for a bit, or it will end up loose if you do really well from now. Good luck, whatever you decide to do :)

I think your probably right bean I will leave it for now, it will probably end up being too much pressure.

I am doing something similar to your idea, for everyday I eat well, exercise and look after myself I'm putting some money in a jar for a treat at the end of the week so I will stick with that for now.

Thanks Elvis Tbh I'm worried more about losing the weight months before the wedding, feeling smug and complacent and putting it all back on before the wedding Grin
