snack ideas if doing no dairy and no processed sugar?

My plan for Jan is no processed sugar or dairy in the week. I usually have a natural yogurt in the afternoon so need to replace that with something. Don't eat red meat either. Thanks

houmous?

Lottapianos · 28/12/2013 15:12

Don't think I could face hard boiled egg! Carrot sticks sound good. Got a bit sick of hummus but may have to fall back in love with it. I already eat a handful of almonds every day but could add some dried fruit to the mix. Thanks

Nakd bars or flapjacks?

Greatdomestic · 28/12/2013 20:45

What about soya yogurt? Not sure about the sugar content though.

I like to blend bananas with soya milk mid afternoon and it does keep me going until dinner.

Also oatcakes and unsalted cashews?

Raw veg
Nuts

A nice fruit and full fat yogurt smoothie - or try to eat a bigger lunch so you don't need a snack?

BerylsDailyKumquat · 28/12/2013 20:53

Oops sorry, I was too busy focusing on the no sugar thing I failed to register the no dairy Blush

TalkinPeace · 28/12/2013 21:56

STOP SNACKING

eat two or three proper meals a day
your body does not need snacks
only the food industry needs snacks

Lottapianos · 29/12/2013 09:09

Actually I do need snacks Talk, hence this thrwadvasking for snack suggestions! How am I in thrall to the 'food industry' if I eat some extra nuts and carrot sticks anyway?

Rice cake with no added sugar and some berries?

Lottapianos · 29/12/2013 12:46

Rice cakes - hadn't thought of that. Thanks Honey!

Wasa and Finn crisps are also nice, they are both rivita style but more tasty - will be in the same part of the aisle though. Low in calories but not like eating cardboard!

CaptainSweatPants · 29/12/2013 13:48

Banana

Why do you need snacks?

Just that many of the people on 5:2 have discovered that stopping snacking has massively reduced the medical problems they thought they were treating (from IBS to diabetes).

The evidence is stacking up that not eating for several hours at a stretch it much better for your Endoctine and Insulin systems than constant intake.
