read the thread for slim world. I have been with sw since march and lost 20lb so far

Very good indeed - only diet I can stick to. You can eat a lot of good food and still lose weight.

I find it really helpful - perhaps a little bit tricky to get into and you do have to think ahead but, once you know what you're doing, it's better than Weight watchers IMO.
My sister has recently lost 5 stone with SW - I think that's amazing

Do you need to go to meetings or can you buy slimming world books etc with info in them. I have read the mag but don't think I really get the concept

I lost weight but I started to find the meetings a bit cult-like and I got rebellious

Poor diet plan with no nutritional advice. A survey done a while ago said that members always put more weight on after they finished the plan

LumpyChump · 13/05/2009 18:28

splitends, I'd be interested to see that survey. I follow SW and have lost just over 3 stone all in all, have maintained that for 3.5 years and have now decided I'd like to lose a little bit more.

A friend of mine lost 6 stone on SW and has kept it off for 5 years.

"Poor diet plan with no nutritional advice" the diet encourages cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients, unlimited amounts of fruit and veg and portion control????

It also encourages keeping fit and active.

It is bar far the best diet there is

Agree with LumpyChump! SW is just the best! Lost 3 stone, never hungry, cook loads of food from scratch instead of readies. Would recommend it to anyone.

Seb1,you do need to go to the meetings I think, as you learn a lot (usually about what I am doing wrong), and I need the discipline of getting weighed each week, but I don't stay to the meeting every time - and a lot depends on the person running it. The pack that you get when you join spells it all out for you to begin with, then you can buy recipe books from Slimming World or Amazon.
