Was size 8 4 years ago and am now verging on a 14 (second pair of size 12's ripped when I put them on yesterday )

Now I know I am not big as such but all of my clothes are way too tight and I need to lose a stone to fit back into them again.

I go to the gym 4 times a week but I really need to cut down on my food as well.

I drink alcohol most nights, snack between meals a lot as well.

I could really do with some advice on what I can do to lose weight.

Should I try the drop a jeans size diet?

TIA

Hmm, i think the first thing you need to address is the snacking between meals. The cereal diet asks you to replace 2 meals a day with a bowl of cereal, but it won't be much good if you snack in between. Trust me, i speak from experience on this one.

Can I eat fruit in between meals?

Are there any low cal snacks I can have?

You can eat some fruit between meals and yes, there are low-calorie snacks you can have. If you would like more info on how to lose weight, you can email me at nutritioniq at yahoo dot com

You need to follow a sensible diet, natch
but you can get rid of water retention and about 3lbs very quickly before you begin to eat sensibly;

day 1: Juice only. Get yourself a juicer machine - you want to lose the weight badly right? - and carrots, raw beetroot, apple, orange, ginger, watermelon and celery. Drink that three times a day plus 2 litres of water and go to bed with no dinner. Harsh but fair
day 2: Same thing but for breakfast include porridge with frozen blueberries (easy to find in the freezer cabinet), honey and walnuts.
A grilled fillet of fish for dinner dressed with lemon juice salt and pepper and olive oil with steamed broccoli
day3: Ditch the juice but keep the porridge for breakfast, lunch of a large mixed salad - all you favourites - oil and vinegar dressing and some feta cheese and 1 slice of wholemeal bread and more fish for dinner with extra vegetables. Don't forget the 2 litres of water.

Then you can start the fat busting diet and exercise routine having lost all that bloat and water retention.

I did it 2 weeks ago dropped 4lbs. But feel off the sensible diet plan I had planned by not eating breakfast for a couple of days - that really puts a spanner in the works. So whatever you choose for your Diet Plan, do not forget breakfast.

Good luck

MrsG - Sounds like I'm a similar size to you except I came to accept a size 14 a couple of years ago. I know lots of people would say that I wasn't overweight, but for me I am. I'm not following a set diet at the moment, but generally trying to eat low fat/healthy.

I would recommend buying scales that measure your body fat - I did and it was a real shocker, so much so that it kick started me into this new sensible eating and it's very rewarding seeing that body fat percentage falling - slowly, but going down.
