I jointed about 5 weeks ago and was really good for about two weeks then I seemed to lose it - I cant stay for meetings just go and get weighed. I have given up and gone on numberous ocassions but i think it probably does work like many will say if you really want it - ie. you are ready to be discliplined with your eating - I am obviously not ready yet - dont know when I will!! Go for it though it does work for many x

Yes it did work for me - I lost a stone over about 4 weeks before my wedding.

I was put on 18 points a day and what really shocked me was that I thought that my pret a manger tuna sandwich with a nut bar and fizzy water that I ate every day was healthy!! Not the case - my whole lunch added up to 20 points. No wonder I had put on so much weight.

What is great about it is that it alerts you to what food really is calorific - stuff you would never realise. It's also great because you can eat what you want within reason and can make up points through exercise etc - so if you want to have a few drinks you can.

I have tried many diets in my time but it's the best - healthy, balanced and you do get results.

I used WW twice and it worked really well. I went to the meetings. I tried to do it on my own at home and didn't succeed. Good luck.

Hello everyone Im just new to this site I joined Weight Watchers in January (new years resolution and all that ) but i really surprised myself it does work ive lost 2.7 stone from jan to april i am very overweight though i am now 14 stone i seemed to stick to this weight since april though i dont blame weight watchers its my fault entirely but it definately does work motivation is the key fact for the first week and then it does get easier main tip i would say is drink loads and loads of water

hi babygirl, I joined 7 weeks ago and have lost a stone (just got weighed yesterday!) so I would highly recommend it.

I'm doing the 'no count' plan which means you don't have to allocate points value to your food or think about how much is on your plate, you just have as much as you need to get full up. It works cos the food you have is taken from a list of 'free' foods and of course these are all the fresh non processed stuff; but pasta rice and potatoes are all 'free' which suits me down to the ground!

Have to say I'm a real convert to WW as our diet is SO healthy now - for dinner we had tuna steaks with rice, and I stuffed a whole punnet of cherries - how delicious can you get!! I find that we're eating such good fresh food that this is more of a treat to me than having a bag of crisps and a bar of choc!

I also have at least 3 stone to lose (ooh, well two now!)

Go for it.

bosscat · 21/07/2006 21:18

yes it does work but you have to get REALLY obsessed about food. I did it for about 10 months last year and lost 1 and a half stone. I just got fed up with dieting and being that obsessed with food though. you have to count everything you eat and plan all you eat in advance. I have had a break and am now going back though, keep meaning to start .... you must stay for the meetings. they really help and are inspiring.

sparklemagic · 21/07/2006 21:25

bosscat, go again and try the no count plan that I was going on about in my message - it's brill, I don't find I am having to obsess at all, you just get the right foods in when you go shopping and off you go!

Xavielli · 22/07/2006 09:20

How much does weight watchers cost if you go to the meetings?

sparklemagic · 22/07/2006 09:37

It's £4.90 I think - not cheap is it!

My first post on mn!
I went to ww 7yrs ago it worked i lost 2 stone. Have put on weight steadily over past 4 yrs and now am 3stone overweight. Have re registered four times not as successful. Also i have tried rosemarie connelly, Dr Phil and even not dieting!
Went back last week as it does work, I have done it before and been successful with it and this time am confident that i will get the weight off!
Lost 5lbs my first week. It fits in with having young children although i disagree with some of there suggestions using Lf spread instead of butter, and artifical sweetner (all full of chemicals) but use honey instead, and dont have butter! (or spread) Staying to class i found helpful and i've made new friends!
