Can losing weight help you look younger?

I'm two and a half stones overweit and I'm hoping that losing weight could be my solution.

This last year I've have several people react with surprise when finding out my age (I think I look ok in the mirror) but I'm about to turn 35 and people think I'm nearer 40. I was in a group and some people were surprised to find out that I was the youngest member. It's starting to get to me.

I am active, but my clothes choices reflect this (jeans/ jumpers rather that dresses etc)

I feel that losing weight might help( I've lost half a stone so far), but am worried that being thinner might not help. If I look worse i don't know what I'll do..

Sorry - have a look at the success stories with pics on this site and you'll see they ALL look years younger!

Good luck!

Thank you. Just needing some reassurance. Sometimes people don't realise a little comment can hurt (the choice between face and body after a certain age. I'm choosing to loose weight, I don't want my face to get any worse!)

Eating good fats like salmon, coconut oil, avocado, nuts all helps the skin look lovely as does drinking lots of water, so thinking about a way of eating that focuses on fresh natural food rather than low-fat processed diet food may help you feel that you are doing everything possible to look younger and fresher faced as well as slim and fit.

I wouldn't worry too much age wise. Your only 35 so your skin should still be able to deal with weight loss without losing elasticity. Smile

Thank you for saying 'only' 35 Grin

I've lost 6 stones (with one more to go) over two years. Honestly my face looked younger when I was chubbier and now I've gone a bit wrinkly around my neck but I look and feel healthier, I'm dressing younger and have better posture and people still think I'm a good few years younger than I am. And it could be that I would have gone a bit wrinkly anyway....

I've lost 5.5 stones and definitely look younger - but it's less to do with the fat per se and more to do with the fact that I'm dressing sleeker and look less like a fuddy-duddy (if you see what I mean). Fortunately I don't look more wrinkly (and I'm 43).

I got accused of looking like a teenager by another poster recently.
am 48
