How many calories should I be eating per day (Still Breastfeeding)?

I am looking to lose around three stone and I know that normally I should be eating 1500 calories a day ? However does anyone know how many extra are needed when breastfeeding as I don?t want my body to go into starvation mode and retain the fat !

About 300 - 500 extra a day, I think. What age is your child?

1500 calories is not very much - are you very tiny? Severely limiting calories when breastfeeding is not a great idea IMO.

I am 4ft 11 and DS is 7 and 1/2 months old - got the 1500 calories limit from slimming magazine calorie counter book as I have 3 stone to lose ... eating really healthy stuff and regularly (breastfeeding 4 times a day)

Ah, it didn't sound like much to eat! Good luck with it and just go easy while you are still feeding (I lost tons of weight while feeding my ds, most of it when he was between 6 and 18 months)
