I have 5 stone to loose. I'm a busy mum with 4 ds 14, 11, 3 and 1 years old. I'm on my own all week cos OH is away at work. I am gonna start a class on a Saturday morning. Slimming world it is. Can u give me hints on how to do it with no time left for me. Smile Please.

Teach the kids to scrape their own plates after each meal so your not tempted to pick at the left overs.

I lost 5 stone by calorie counting, but only have 2 dc's who were 9 & 11 when I started to lose weight.

SW will help with planning & tips. I'm up for my 4.5 stone award on Monday (but I've only got one DS). You'll get lots of support. Good luck!

No experience with so many kids, but I lost two st as a lone parent.

While I'm crap at my own advice, if you are motivated, even running up and down the stairs, being extra energetic with housework, taking the 1 yr old on long walks ( assuming 3 yr old in nursery?) if your library has exercise DVDs for loan, try a few til you find a style you like. I've just started yoga and I always thought it was a bit pants looking but its actually hard work!

Good luck :)

Oh, and if you can rope a friend into walking with you it'll encourage you on "off" days. I always have a buddy for swimming as I'm never in the mood, but feel great after I've been!

serve less to the kids so there is less waste. Leftovers then can be served for next meal.

no junk in the house. Whingers can suck it up. Snacks are sandwiches, bananas etc - not crisps and biscuits.

no low-fat food, diet food, ready meals - cook more and freeze some to make your own 'ready meals'. If SW seems the bleeding obvious, dump it and go swimming or walking instead.

the older ones should be giving you a lot of help with the younger ones. Also second an exercise DVD after the little ones are in bed.

Can the 14 yr old be trusted to mind the little ones in the evening? Ie if the 3 and 1 yr olds are in bed for 7pm, could you then get out for an hour's power walk or run 3 x a week.

Rich man. That's a good idea. I am moaning about not getting any exercise. I hadn't thought about going out when they were in Bed. The older two are defo sensible enough to be left for 30-45 mins. Thanks. Great tip.
