Walking for weightloss? I want to get started

So I have started a new job which is very local, if I walk dd to school (30mins walk) then onto work (20-30 mins walk) and back again I could be walking for around two hours per day. Three times per week.

So before getting started I want to know what I should wear on my feet? I don't want to look silly with trainers and a smart coat and skirt ConfusedConfused

Should I get some willies? Are they even comfortable for walking in? for

Agree you have to really get going to do anything. I wear a pedometer most days and memorably once spent a whole day pootling round the zoo with the kids, walking pretty much all day, about 8 hours, and burnt a grand total of......wait for it......29 calories Grin

Yet walking as fast as I physically can following the kids on scooters doing the school run, I can burn 105 in 20 minutes.

And muscle burns more calories / is metabolically more active at rest than fat so any muscle-building exercise is good even if the immediate calorie burn is not so high.

Rubbish / Roller just ordered the pedometer today so don't know the reading yet. It was 14 quid one rather than the 2 quid one I was planning to get because it got good feedback on the accuracy and you can stick it in your pocket or wear round neck. I will update when I get it!Smile

Rubbish I shifted it walking everywhere, leaving a shitty relationship, cutting out all junk food, and doing half an hour of exercise videos a day :)
