Are bagels really that bad?

I remember reading somewhere that there's five slices worth of bread in one bagel.

But 1 bagel = 220 calories. 1 slice of wholemeal bread = 105 calories. So if I have 2 slices of toast it's only a 10 cal difference!

So, am I unfairly prejudiced against bagels?

Oooo I wouldn't eat either, see

That didn't actually answer the question though, sorry!

Bagels (white ones anyway) are low in fibre and very high GI, so they won't fill you up for very long - so you're more likely to eat more later.

2 slices of wholemeal toast, especailly with some protein (e.g. eggs, peanut butter) will keep you fuller for longer.

There's more to healthy eating than calories...

No they're not that bad.

Low carbing is not the only way to eat healthily.
