Diet mayhem!

I have tried so many diets over the years i just want to find something that works for me and my body. I have a friends wedding coming up in December and would love to drop 2 stone..

Now the ultimate question is which diet. I feel I need to retrain myself to stick with something. I start off with good intentions, lose some but then but it all back on plus some.

I am tempted to try Alli (squelch squelch) and a low fat diet as this would stop me going back to old habits. Or do I low carb or do I point? I certainly don't want to leave it and then have to panic crash diet a week before.

Any tips? Please help as I'm feeling so bleurrrgh about myself Hmm

Also I am partial to the odd diet book (sad I know) any new ones you can recommend?

Come and try 5:2 .... its not terribly quick - only 1 - 1.5 lb a week
BUT
in the process you will totally reset your relationship with food forever
and if you time your fast days, the wedding will be part of the diet !

the threads on here are the best resource there is ....

Thanks talkingpeace. I've been low carbing today and it just feels like I'm doing it wrong. I suppose only time will tell.
Can you really eat what you want on your days off?

Alfie
this weekend ....

Friday was no breakfast (cos I never do) then small ham cheese and pickle sandwich for lunch and pizza and red wine for supper.
Saturday was sausage and egg sandwiches for breakfast (three chipolatas, three eggs, two thin slices of bread), two huge chicken fajitas for lunch and chinese and wine for supper
Sunday was croissants for breakfast, lasagne and garlic bread for lunch

and then my fast started at 4pm
so today so far one cup of tea : but after all that food I'm still feeling full.

I get full after fairly small portions now, but the portion can be of anything I like.
I love the 5:2 way of eating.

Oh my talkinpeace! I think I would be starving. Yes youve eaten loads and all sounds yummy but you fasted from 4pm until now? So when will you break your fast 4pm? Omg I would be a quivering mess. I can sometimes skip breakfast and then eat say 1pm but I'm ready for my lunch.

Which is the healthiest Low carb or fasting? I know evidence now for both. Just Low carb seems like it drops faster and you can eat more. Unless I have just taken the low carb route of eat what you can too literally. Blush

I will not eat till about 6pm tonight : and then it will be a 400 calorie omelette .... and then nothing till Tuesday lunchtime.
I drink LOADS of tea
and am utterly used to fasting now.

Healthier ... it depends. I love pasta and bread so low carb would never work for me.

alfiemama · 07/10/2013 15:43

Hats off to you just don't think I could go that long without food.
When I dabbled in it I skipped breakfast and broke fast around 3pm but then ate just a little for tea. I lost a few pounds but didn't really commit to it.

alfie
come join the big thread and start with short fasts and build up to it.
there are lots and lots of really supportive people on there....

alfiemama · 07/10/2013 17:26

That's a great idea. I'll see what the scales say at the weekend from doing low carb and may switch Wink

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
