Beety, would you like to do another sit up thread here?

I have put on a pound this week and am not sure why as was pretty good all week and didn't overdo syns. Am not doing any exercise though and tummy looks worse now i've lost a few pounds.

Anyone want to join me in some daily sit-ups ?
I think last time the thread was 50 a day. But there is no way i can manage that so I will start at 20-a day. Am planning to increase by 5 each week. So if you want to get a nice trim tum join in by posting your daily sit-up target and then post each day when you've done them.
That way we should keep each other motivated.

C'mon ladies

lilibet · 19/02/2004 10:59

yes please kayleigh!

Heavy time of the month?

Kayleigh · 19/02/2004 11:02

I thought of that Lilibet but am right in middle of cycle so unfortunately not.

How many are you pledging to do a day ?

Beccarollover · 19/02/2004 11:02

Me too please

lilibet · 19/02/2004 14:05

I can't do one properely - does anyone have any hints or tips?

Kayleigh · 19/02/2004 14:16

You don't have to come all the way up. I lay with my knees bent, feet flat on the floor and my back and bottom pressing flat into the floor. Then i put my hands at the side of my head with my elbows sticking out (pretty picture huh !!). Then pull in your stomach muscle and lift your head and shoulders off the floor two or three inches. This is how I was taught to do situps many moons ago in an exercise class. Apparently you are using the muscle in the same way but not putting any strain on your back.

Does that help at all ?

lilibet · 19/02/2004 14:21

so its ok that i can't go up any further than that? doesn't seem to pull on my stomach muscles t all - more on my neck. I will keep trying.
There must be other stomach exercises apart from sit ups?

Kayleigh · 19/02/2004 14:26

You have to be pulling up from the stomach/abdomen. If your neck hurts I don't think you can be doing it right. If you pull in your stomach muscles and lift from that area even if you lift an inch you will be exercising the right muscles.
The only other one I know is stomach crunches, where you go from side to side touching opposite elbow to knee. But that is hard and it hurts !

Gillian98 · 19/02/2004 14:35

Does anyone know what sort of excersises are safe to do while pregnant? I'm 21 weeks, I presume sit ups wouldn't be the best?

Kayleigh · 19/02/2004 14:51

Gillian98. Swimming is meant to be very good. Even late in pregnancy. Not sure about other stuff though.

lilibet · 19/02/2004 14:51

I think my stomach muscles have gone awol

donnie · 19/02/2004 15:01

no sit ups during pregnancy, but I did do quite a bit of fast - ish walking on the treadmill which is fine. Swimming is the best though as all muscles are supported and sudden breaking of waters is cunningly disguised!you can do gentle arm and leg weight stuff but nothing which is going to affect your belly.

JanHR · 19/02/2004 15:07

Count me in please. How many are we doing each day?

Kayleigh · 19/02/2004 19:10

JanHR - everyone is probably at different levels. So you say how many you are going to do each day and then increase by 5 a week. I was going to start at 20 but have just done mine and managed 30. So this week I will do 30 each day and next thurs will increase to 35.

Anyone else done theirs yet ?

twiglett · 19/02/2004 19:13

Kayleigh · 19/02/2004 19:19

LOL. Bit energetic for me Twiglett

GenT · 19/02/2004 19:24

that was calorie burning Twiglett, now I should be able to recover from this bug, I rather liked that.

Kayleigh · 20/02/2004 19:10

I did my 30 first thing this morning before getting dressed. But since then have been eating everything in sight. So not a terribly good day diet wise. But at least I did my excercises

lilibet, Beccarollover, suzywong, JanHR ??????
Are you too tired to post after all that exertion??
