Beetroot · 19/06/2006 13:38

it's bollocks. it makes me think of majorie dawes and dust. i'm out of there like a shot

CountessDracula · 19/06/2006 13:42

Beety

Text your weight to me and I will berate you by text at regular intervals if you are not losing

NomDePlume · 19/06/2006 13:42

Is it expensive online, CD ? Harder to stick to when you don;t have to face a room full of disapproving faces if you don't lose that week ?

NomDePlume · 19/06/2006 13:44

I want to lose 1/2 a stone, but tbh regular 'mettings' don't work with DH's schedule.

Dior · 19/06/2006 13:44

Well, as an ex Leader - I had loads of members like you lot. However, I worked bloody hard each week to put a meeting together, and it was soul destroying to see people buggering off. As a member I used to stay because I did pick up hints and tips, as well as info on what other people did on their plans.

It's not all cheesey 'put cheese in a tupperware dish' stuff you know. Please give your Leader another try. Some weeks are harder to plan meetings for that others.

Obviously, if meetings are not for you, your Leader will still be there for you and will be happy to advise you on anything you need to know. We can't please everyone all the time. Just bear in mind that your Leader doesn't get any more money for you staying to the whole meeting, just grief from her manager for people not staying.

Beetroot · 19/06/2006 13:44

oh i really think going is better

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 19/06/2006 13:45

MEETINGS, not mettings. I am a moron.

CountessDracula · 19/06/2006 13:46

Well I think the online points tracker is the best thing.

I have found no prob sticking to it at all
2lbs first week
2lbs second week
3lbs third week

I don't have time or inclination for meetings so it is much better for me

NomDePlume · 19/06/2006 13:47

Is it more expensive online than RL ?

Beetroot · 19/06/2006 13:48

Dior, actually it is boring and eveyone I have been to has benboring FOR ME. quizz ofn how many points in thsi and that. ..I guess certain people like this and certain people just wanna be wwighed and go. And that is ok. They pay there 4.90!!

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 19/06/2006 13:48

It is £39.99 for 3 months I think

Beetroot · 19/06/2006 13:49

cd the meeting is 2 mins form my house stragiht after I drop at school. It works for me as it takes 5 mins (if i dont stay for the quiz) Wink

Thing is, everyone is different, which is why WW do an on-line method of weight loss (don't want to miss out on any pennies do they!)

Some Leaders are great, some are pointless. My first leader was shite, and patronising. She still does meetings too, but some members love her. I always used to get compliments on my meetings, but even then I used to think some of mine were flying a bit too close to mediocrity occasionally. I always used to try to make my meetings a bit of a laugh, and two of my classes responded to that whilst the other one used to be a bit more po-faced...

Beetroot · 19/06/2006 13:50

their 4.90 !!!

suejonez · 19/06/2006 13:51

I always stayed and lost about 3.5 stone. I stayed, not to hear about what was in everyone fridge, but to get to know some of the other dieters and the leader, if I knew them I felt more motivated to stick to the diet. If you're only going to get weighed why not nip down to Boots and pay 30p instead, it'll save you a fortune.

I hated the people who only had a stone or less to lose (sorry, but I did!) they never stayed to the meeting and made me feel fat and stupid when they talked about how fat they were when the reality was I could have fitted two of them into my skirt with room for a small child too.

Ouch... sore point for me...

katierocket · 19/06/2006 13:51

I've gone to meetings and done it online and online is really good.

NomDePlume · 19/06/2006 13:53

Think I'll keep my £40 in my purse and just stop eating all the shite and get back into the gym again (which I'm paying for monthly, but haven't been since Jan Blush)

dinny · 19/06/2006 13:54

Beetroot, I started WW four weeks ago, also have a stone to lose and ALSO have been wondering why people, and it is sooooo boring. Leader-woman bangs on about low-Point products in half-hearted manner for a bit and asks everyone what they have lost/put on. It should be much more motivating/pep-talk-like, shouldn't it?

Despite this I've found it v motivating to go to meetings - have lost 11.5 lbs in four weeks and am nearly back to lowest-BMI in healthy weight range (ie. quick weight-loss even though not much to lose) Hurrah.

Beetroot · 19/06/2006 13:54

I am not going to feel guilty that I only have a stone to lose and that I weigh and run..sorry..not on my guiltradar that one!!

OP posts:
Dior · 19/06/2006 13:54

Beety - if it doesn't work for you...fine. At least you gave the meeting a chance. Quizes are a bit of a standard thing in meetings as they allow people to ooh and ahh over how many points they didn't realise they were eating. Fine if you don't want to share in that. I would have been really upset though if you had been one of my members and posting that on here!

Yes, they pay their £4.95, but it was never about the money for me. I always wanted to help all my members. Funnily enough, the ones who weighed and went always seemed to want to spend 10 minutes with me at the scales though! It used to annoy me, because they could have asked their question in the meeting, and it might have helped other members. It also me away from weighing other members who might have needed me.

I do understand where you are coming from though Beety. Have you discussed what you would like from a meeting with your Leader though?

arfy · 19/06/2006 13:54

ooh suejonez I didn't stay because lots of the people who did only had a little bit to lose and that made me cross. I always talked to my leader a bit though and that's why I went (also to buy the sweets....)

this was ages ago now. The meetings didn't suit me but then a lot of that was probably that I already went with some friends. Might be different on my own. But at the moment I prefer the BigMoFos thread Grin

Ledodgyherring · 19/06/2006 13:55

Oh God I used to go there , i stayed once for the chat and it went like this:
Bloke in his 50s had lost a pound
leader "well done Dave"
Dave "thanks Rita I know what did it, I didn't buy biscuits in this weeks shop"
Rita "That's brilliant Dave them biscuits get yer every time"
"OOh I know Rita, that's how I put on 6 pounds last week"
Communal nods and mutterings from the rest of the people "yeah biscuits, those biscuits get yer every time"
Then she told us to buy lods of ww ready meals, showed us a lump of lard that was equivelant to one pound.
I left not feeling very inspired went the next week lost 4 pounds so they pressed a button and this toy train went along a track saying "Woohoo". I never returned.
