I had dc2 six months ago and have been elb but I still have to loose about 3st. I also have a 'huge' overhang (cs#2) Shock Sad. I have been eating quite sensibly so am a bit concerned if it will ever go.

When I had dc1 I also ebf, ate loads but went for lots of walks as well and was back at my pre-pregnancy weight after 8 months. Most of it was gone by 5/6 months. I am hoping to bf until dc2 is about a year or perhaps longer. Does bf not automatically help to loose weight? What are the foods I can safely cut down on whilst bf? I do have a lot of full fat milk products, occasionally some dark chocolate but eat quite healthily overall.

Anyone with some encouraging advice?

hi, it is the prolactin that is in your body due to the breastfeeding that is making you to hold onto the weight/fat.

However don't be dishearted because once you stop feeding the weight should just drop off. Just make sure that you maintain a healthy diet during this time.

it was exactly the same with me, it took me 16 months to lose 2 st, but the last stone went in about 6 weeks once I stopped feeding.

Thank you itsblack. If it is due to the prolactin, why do you think I might have lost my baby weight much faster after dc1? Can prolactin affect you differently at different times?

I tried to find some information about ebf and weight retention and came across this.

Maybe there reallyi is a link between ebf and weight issues Hmm

Stopping bf had no impact on my weight. Exercising like a mad bastard did.

Latrucha, may I ask what sort of exercise regime worked for you? I have never and to loose weight before and am really stuck with what to do.

30 day shred plus using My Fitness Pal to track what I ate. I set My Fitness Pal to the minimum weight loss (1lb a week) but I found that with the exercise I lost 2lb per week. It's also only 20 minutes which can be just about doable alongside childcare. I did it after bedtime.

Thanks latrucha, I'll check the 30 day shred thing out Smile.

I'd also recommend 30 day shred and I'm also doing couch to 5k. I'm monitoring my calories on My Fitness Pal. I have a goal of 1600 calories and then an extra 500 cals for BF (2100) which is very manageable.

I'm BF my 16 week old and am lighter than when I fell pregnant.

Lots of threads on the Shred on here. I am no longer bf my 3yo, and approaching my re-baby weight Blush
