No change for me this week, but given my halfterm holiday at big family parties, that's a major achievement. So still 9 stone 7, but it could have been a lot worse. I am so impressed by everyone's motivation this week, and Jambuttie, that's fantastic! I'm determined to start losing again now.

Smalline · 08/06/2006 09:30

Welcome Prettyfull
I don’t see myself as being on a diet, I like to call it ‘healthy eating’. I do exercise but then again I did exercise before starting this. To lose weight I have cut down (down, not out) on the biscuits, cakes, wine, chocolates etc. and modified my meals during the week. A typical day (before my ‘healthy eating’) was wake up have a cup of tea then have 4 or 5 biscuits, 30 mins later bowl of bran flakes for breakfast, fruit mid morning, sandwich for lunch fruit mid afternoon, but come 6pm I would be so hungry I’d binge on more biscuits and maybe a packet of crisps. Dinner would be about 9pm after the kids are in bed, meat, veg, potatoes or rice etc. followed by 2 large glasses of wine and then maybe some chocolate. My typical day now is breakfast when I get up, fruit mid morning, salad for lunch, fruit mid afternoon, raisins and nuts or fruit at 6pm, dinner is now meat and veg/salad, I have cut out the potatoes rice etc during the week but I do have these in my meals at weekend.
I no longer have wine during the week, instead I will have a cup of tea and a treat of maybe 2 biscuits or a small scoop of ice-cream, basically I save my treats until the end of the day so I have something to look forward to.

This works for me. Everyone is different and have their own ways of losing weight. Have you tried to lose weight before, if you did what did you do, and did it work. Exercise does not have to be working out in the gym or classes, it could be walking dancing, cycling etc. anything that you enjoy doing and can incorporate into everyday life. I do exercise but only because I enjoy it (otherwise I would have given up years ago) and, I find that it gives me more energy, and makes me less ratty.

As for boredom eating, I’m sure that a lot of us know where you are coming from, I’ve been there myself. You haven’t said what you eating during these times but if you are like me and eat biscuits cakes chocolates etc, then maybe you could try reaching for some fruit or nuts, or even some cereal instead. I know I’ve gone on a bit but I hope this helps.

HeavyBee · 08/06/2006 10:37

Welcome, PrettyFull! I hope you find, like me, that the first half stone all comes off the tummy. So far I haven't lost any more, but I'm working on it. Also I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on the list for all the support and encouragement, because I am wearing a skirt I made before I had the children, and for the first time since then the waistband isn't gouging a line round my middle. Yeehah!

Prettyfull · 08/06/2006 19:26

Hi!!

So,..where do i start lol. Thanks for all teh advise, sounds great. Im def going to start cutting out the junk food!!

My boredom eating is mainly crips, i can eat like 3-5 packs a day!!! then theres choc, im not even that keen on chocolate bars untill dp brought Mint Echo bars for his lunch,,...THEY ARE SO TASTY!!! So these i guess r my main down falls. ALso as its summer, BLOODY mars creams lol

I do have an exercise video, which i try to do when dd has her nap but i feel so tired where she doesnt sleep trhough teh night and wakes early at 5am that i want to nap with her!!!

I havnt tried to lose weight b4 as i was happy with my size, its only after dd that im really so low about myself :(

Well done heavybee and smalline, and thanks for a lovely welcome!!! :)

busywizzy · 08/06/2006 21:18

Sorry it's late everyone but the chart's gone to you all now. Prettyfull, I've added you onto the distribution so you'll be included from next Tuesday. Good luck Smile

I'm like Smalline and don't think I'm on a diet anymore. I just try and eat well. So regular, healthy meals, minimal 'treats' and lots of water.

I also try and run twice a week (2.5 miles around my village) and I've started this only recently. My first few runs were more like lots of walking with the occasional jog in between but now I can run the whole distance in about 25 minutes. I'm doing the Race for Life later this month with my DD as an incentive to keep working at it.

Prettyfull, how old is DD. My DS is almost 15 months and quite often, I put him in the buggy and go for a walk as I figure it's good for him being in the fresh air and better for me than sitting on my (too large) bottom Grin

Tortoise has a bacpack and carries her DD in that for exercise. She's about 20 months I think (DD not Tortoise that is Wink )

I hope you get some inspriation and suppport from this thread. I have and it's really helped me shift that post baby weight. Don't think I'd have stuck it out without my 'friends' here.

tortoise · 08/06/2006 21:28

Im feeling good this weekSmileHave resisted eating unless im hugry and havn't had any biscuits, cake, crisps or chocolate for about 5 days.
DD2 is 22 mths btw!Havn't used backpack this week as its too hot!Think a morning would be best time to use it.
fingers crossed for a good weight loss by tuesdayGrin

tortoise · 08/06/2006 21:29

*hungry

busywizzy · 08/06/2006 21:35

Oh Tortoise, what a good week you're having. I've had a mixed week as DH has been very poorly with some kind of stomach bug / food poisoning (we're not sure which). He's been really, really sick so I've had to do pretty much everything in the house with the children and work and look after him. All this has meant I haven't had time to eat much but then when I have, I've gone mad like tonight and pigged out on a chinese as I couldn't be bothered to start cooking at 8pm. Don't know if I feel like I've lost loads or put on loads so will have to wait and see.

DH has lost a stone in weight this week so maybe I'll catch what he's got and then I'll definately be in for some weight loss Grin

Hey busywizzy,

dd will be 2 in August and to be honest she hates sitting in the buggy, not much chance of that happeneing, even with food and toys :(

Il have to keep trying though as walking with her in the buggy will probabbly be the best form of exersice that fits in to my lifestyle.

Im going shopping today so wont have time to do my pilates dvd :( and 2moro iv got a wedding to go to, so im going to haev to make up for this next week :)

So,...has anyone tried Silver slimming tablets??? Im thinking of giving this a go :)

Smalline · 09/06/2006 13:57

Why slimming tablets Prettyfull? It sounds to me that you haven't got a great deal of weight to loose, and if you just cut down on the crisps and chocolates you will loose the weight.

Prettyfull · 09/06/2006 20:44

Well i cant lose the weight on my tummy, iv tired cutting back but i cant lose the weight so was going to consider slimmming tablets.

My body frame is just huge compared to pre pregnancy weight and i hate it :(

jambuttie · 11/06/2006 20:24

I am soooo dreading the weigh in this week, I have went a bit nuts on the old evil grub.

went away for the night and ate ate ate

jambuttie · 13/06/2006 16:28
