if so please tell me how you did it. Just diet, just exercise or a mix of both and if you could provide a run down of what worked for you that would be very helpful.

or is it impossible?

I did! Although I'm pregnant now so they're growing again Envy
I am very curry, all of my weight goes onto my boobs, bum and thighs so it was a nightmare to shift. I counted calories with myfitnesspal.com (apparently 80% of weight loss is diet) and cut down on sugar and other rubbish. Started running (couch to 5k) and got back into swimming. After reaching my goal I got into weight training too and wish I'd started it sooner. It's definitely possible but takes a lot of work!

2much2young · 08/07/2013 23:49

yay MrsGSR! Did you have problems with thighs chafing in weather such as this before your slim down and if so did slimming down sort it out? I started a thread in S&B about thigh circumference and chafing and it would appear that it may not be as simple as slimming down but I live in hope Smile

Oh no - the solution is exercise and dieting - was hoping for a miracle cream and eating chocolate at certain times of the day.. well done MrsGSR though for getting it done .. how long did it take you?

2much2young - fancy a healthy challenge to get to the thighs of a gazelle by next summer?!

2much2young · 09/07/2013 09:21

yes I do Carol!

Of course I do know that it's all about what I'm putting in my mouth and how much I move my arse but I too was hoping that by now someone would have come up with some magic potion but alas it seems not Grin

3 inches last time I was measured. Lots of water, low GI diet, lots of walking, lunges, squats and I very occasionally drag myself to a spinning class, but I hate spinning and my legs hate it even more so that doesn't happen often.

2much2young · 09/07/2013 09:26

well done D0oinMeCleanin how's the chafing situation?

OP posts:
CarolBornAMan · 09/07/2013 09:38

2much2young.. yes agree - most of my problem with thighs is more related to problems with hand to mouth with food rather than poor thighs themselves.. so would appear that some C25K and the dreaded lunges are called for ..

just going to google quickly to see if there is no miracle cream for us before we commit to anything strenuous..

2much2young · 09/07/2013 10:03

yes I have been in 10/12 in my dim and distant past and although my thighs were still "large" proportionally I had no problems with chafing thighs. I never paid much attention to my diet at this time because I was always at the f'king gym! 4 or 5 times a week! still thought I could do with losing "another stone" oh how I long for those days Envy

2much2young... I could have written your posts! I have started low carbing (4 weeks in... with a blip in the middle) & have lost 2" from each thigh so far.... still got a long way to go to(&still holding out for the miracle cream!) but it's a start! x

MrsGSR · 09/07/2013 10:40

I'm not sure how long it took me. The biggest change was when I started running. I know it's not possible to spot reduce but it made a massive difference to my thighs, as I said the fat there is very stubborn!
It definitely helped with them rubbing together :)

CarolBornAMan · 09/07/2013 10:52

Ok this has inspired me that I can change the lumps of lard that I am carrying around .. running and low carb here I come - my thighs now really getting me down as I carry all my fat there - am probably 20 lb over weight but I am now beyond a pear shape - fitted into a size 8 top this week but shows off the 45 inch hips and massive thighs to be really so out of proportion I just look stupid and so bought a baggie size 14 one to try to balance out..

weirdly though I don't rub!! Guess due to huge pelvis managing to keep even these lumps apart!

D0oinMeCleanin · 09/07/2013 10:54

I haven't wore a dress or skirt this summer yet, but will let you know when I do. I'm still a size 18 though, so I am not hopeful Sad

I find those sloggi shorts are brilliant.

2much2young · 09/07/2013 11:21

that's what I like to hear penguins!

right then Carol let's just bloody get on and do it:

Plants and Protein
Running
Water

D0oin you've lost 3 inches off your thighs AWESOME!!! keep going!

OK 2much2young - you are on..

We can do this! I am off on holiday 3 weeks today - want an inch off the buggers by then - so going to low carb and run .. let me know when you start - off to gym today and then will do a low carb menu plan. In meantime, got a pint of water next to me and shall stride with purpose to the loo every 30 mins...

2much2young · 09/07/2013 11:34

sounds like a plan!

No time like the present, healthy eating today and start the C25K tomorrow

CarolBornAMan · 09/07/2013 15:53

OK so had soup for lunch and then to the gym to flap the thighs on a treadmill for 30 mins - no improvement yet..

Guess will be re-thinking lasagne and garlic bread dinner I had planned...

2much2young · 09/07/2013 17:50

well done Carol my regime starts tomorrow doesn't it -always-- Grin

CarolBornAMan · 09/07/2013 18:11

as long as it starts - that's all that matters - have a final carb fest tonight and get ready for new life with sleek thighs..

2much2young · 09/07/2013 22:13

Carbs and wine - Ooo on a Tuesday!
