Help! Have put weight on my feet [blush]!! Seeking advice from those of you who have gained and lost weight ...

This is really a 'style and beauty' question but I thought I might get more answers in the weight loss topic.

I'm having a massive shoe declutter and could do with everyone's advice please.

I put on a fair bit of weight last year with the result that my feet have not only gone up a size, but they have 'spread' as well. (Maybe age has something to do with it too - am almost 50.)

Anyway, such is life and all that, but can no longer fit in to lots of my lovely shoes [sob in to handkerchief emoticon]

I am in the process of losing weight. Is it worth me keeping my old (too small) shoes in the hope that my feet will shrink back to the size they once were, or shall I have a complete clear out?

Someone on another thread said that their toes got slimmer when they dieted (not sure about the rest of the foot though!). I think I know what your answers are going to be but just thought I would throw it out there and see what people think?

Would especially appreciate advice from people who have gained and then lost weight? Did your foot size change that dramatically?

Thanks!

My feet went up a size during pregnancy. 12 years later they still haven't shrunk. Mind you, I haven't significantly shrunk either.

Steamedcabbage · 09/07/2013 11:26

Thanks Slug great to get a reply!! Grin

Yes, I was kind of thinking that would be the case...

..just desperately hoping someone would say different and I could keep my lovely shoes [sniff] The new ones I have had to buy aren't nearly so stylish :(

Btw, if it's any consolation, my feet went up a size in pregnancy and have now gone up again Blush

My feet went from a 38 to a 39 whilst pregnant and are stuck now at the bigger size! Sorry!!!

Whole blinkin wardrobe of shoes I can't wear..boo!

Steamedcabbage · 09/07/2013 12:17

Sympathies Frisson! It is so maddening.

I keep going back and trying to fit my stumps in to a pair I'm particularly fond of, in the hope that my feet will have miraculously shrunk somehow... Can't even get my toes in!

They've got to go haven't they [sobs in to handkerchief]

I've lost 2 stone and some of my shoes no longer fit. They're to wide/gappy.

Peachypossum · 09/07/2013 21:24

I was a 14, now hoping to get into a 10 soon. Hth

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 09/07/2013 21:25

I lost 2 and a half stone last year and my feet stayed exzactly the same. They have never changed with weight loss or gain.

Steamedcabbage · 10/07/2013 10:09

Oooohhhh a bit of hope there from Peachypossum

....wavers ....

only to be dashed again by amothersplaceisinthewrong ...

I lost 7 stone (and put it back again) and also went down two sizes in shoes, however my feet are like bricks, short and wide, so I think it might be dependent on your foot in the first place.

Steamedcabbage · 10/07/2013 22:03

Still, you did go down two whole sizes Glasshouse - am v. interested to hear that ...

... hopes rise again ... Smile

I'm half a size down in my new running shoes :)

Steamedcabbage · 11/07/2013 10:18

Right, that's all the encouragement I need (thank you Peachy) some choice pairs of old shoes are going in a box in the roof for when I am svelte.. if that day ever comes

I can! I thought my feet had gone up a size in pregnancy but, as I gradually shifted the baby weight, I've been able to get into more & more of my old shoes and the ones I wore at the end of my pregnancy (EE fitting) now feel like boats. So, yes, there is hope. Also, I wore flat shoes for the last four months or so of each pregnancy and then all of maternity leave and each time, after over a year in flats, it took a while to get used to the discomfort of being in leather heels.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 20/07/2013 16:47

Definitely keep the shoes. I can change a hike size - from a 4 to a 5 depending on weight. If you are set on losing weight keep the shoes.
