After the birth of ds2 5 weeks ago I have 4 stone to shred! When I met dh slim, fit and confident, when we married I immediately fell pregnant with ds 1 and ballooned being 4st overweight, after ds1 birth we knew we wanted another quite soon, I lost 2.5 stone and fell pregnant with ds2. My inspiration is 'I want to be back to the confident wife dh married'. I feel too young to be frumpy and give up on feeling sexy. Dh seems to feel no different about me and says its not my weight he worries about just my self confidence! Also in sept I start lecturing at a university. I know my weight will limit my confidence!

That's mine- what's yours?

Hiya YellowCanary1 Congratulations on the birth of DS2. Sounds like good motivation.

What method are you using to lose? I have started Weight Watchers which isn't really very 'trendy' anymore but it's working for me. I've lost 8lbs in 2 weeks so it's early days but I am determined. I have another 5 stone to lose (arrrgh, hate admitting that!) I am aiming to get to my target of 10 stone by next summer when I turn 30 (hate admitting that too Wink !) I expect the weight loss wil slow down to maybe just a pound or 2 a week which is healthy and fine by me.

I think you'll still be dropping weight from having your DS2 so don't push yourself too far or too fast.

I also have 2 sons, a 5 yr old and an 18 month old. They are my main motivation. I want to be fitter for them and be able to run around and not dread DS1 asking me to do any physical activity! I just don't feel comfortable being this size. I am 5 feet 8 inches so reasonably tall but just feel like a brick shit house at the minute!

I got married 7 years ago and weighed 10 stone. I look at my wedding pictures and can't quite believe how fat I am now! I want to feel more confident and wear nice clothes that actually fit well, instead of me bulging over the top and having rolls. Yuk.

I was fed up of not being able to fit into the style of clothes I like and always having to buy clothes that hide me

superbagpuss · 08/07/2013 20:41

mine was getting married - I was told I needed at size 16 wedding dress. I had a year to go and ended up a size 8

now I'm determined not to put weight on as it was so hard work the first time to lose it

I echo your wedding pictures motivation oddbodd, I was a size 10 when married and now a size 16!
Agree bsshbosh I'd love to get back to my gypsy dresses and skirts!
Well done superbagpuss that's brilliant loss. Can I ask was/is it hard to keep off?

its still mostly off but I do have to deny myself food - especially now seeing as I have had to cancel my gym as money is tight and I hate running in public

I weigh myself about once a month and use clothes as a good indicator if I need to be careful again for a while

Great thread! Congrats on your DS yellow Smile

Mine are:

  1. I am obese.
  2. I only want one chin
  3. my lower back aches. Am sure this is due to the podge.
  4. I want my daughter to have a happy healthy mummy and not a sad fat one.
  5. I want to wear nice clothes not just ones that fit and cover me up.
  6. I want to wear a lovely dress for my daughter's first birthday.
  7. I want my mojo back!

I've been overweight since my first year at uni, SEVENTEEN years ago! I've tried numerous times since then to lose the weight, not even getting married made me do it but this time I really believe I will.

Got just under four stone to lose, have already lost a stone and a half low carbing and feel loads better!

Good luck ladies! We can do this!

Congrats on your new baby, OP!
My motivation nearly 3 years ago was: I was dressed up for a night out, and DP said that my tummy looked a bit 'spare tyre-y'. I looked in the mirror and the scales fell from my eyes - I'd been trying to convince myself that I was still in reasonable shape, although I knew I was a bit too heavy. I remember thinking, "That's it - no more". I joined WeightWatchers online (WW is the only thing that's ever worked for me long-term) and lost 2.5 stone in about 6 months. I maintained for a year then got pregnant. DD is now 19 weeks and I have half a stone to get back to 'goal' - but I'd like to lose another stone after that this time. My motivation now is DD - I am 40 years old, and am determined that, despite my age, DD will have an active mother who plays games with her, takes her swimming, cycling etc and who will go on the slides at the waterparks on holiday with her!

Good luck everyone - keep the faith!
