Hi, i breastfed ds1 for 16 months. The weight dropped off first time round and i ended up 2 stone lighter than my pre pregnancy weight. Second time around with ds2. He is now 4 months. I put on quite a bit of weight and lost about a stone and half quite quickly, since then zilch.i need to lose about another 2.5 stone. Why wont it go? Someone said they didn't lose anything til they stopped breastfeeding. Im hoping this will happen for me too but not planning on stopping yet.do i have to put up with being fat until he is weaned and why did weight drop off first time round? Arghh!any similar experiences or advice?thanks

I lost about a pound a month when breastfeeding then ut 7 lbs back on really fast when I stopped breastfeeding. I am now counting calories and have managed to lose the weight and keep it off, but with some effort!

I also lost the weight easily after DC1 but I am now struggling after the birth of DC2. The scales have been stuck at the same number for nearly 2 months. Very depressing... I have to confess that I have been eating more during this pregnancy and have developed some bad dietary habits (e.g. Little portion control, snacking on chocolate Blush ). I am trying to go back to healthier eating, I am walking a lot, I am doing one Pilates class and 3-4 sessions of the shred a week: still no weight loss. Not a gram! I also read the comment about losing the weight post bf but I think that it is more likely that I will put on more as my body will not be burning bf calories... More than happy to be corrected!!

I've asked the same question on here before and mainly people said the weight didn't really come off until after they'd stopped bf. my weight is coming off but very slowly no more than a pound a fortnight.

I also found I lost the baby weight really easily with DC1, and have struggled with DC2. And again because I was using the baby as an excuse to sit around and feed my face with sweets and chocolate. Also having a toddler to feed meant I was eating more than the first time round. Once I realised that I had actually gained weight since having the baby(!!), I made a huge change and started paying lots more attention to diet and exercise. It hasn't been too painful - I haven't once felt hungry, and am quite enjoying getting fit again. So far I've lost about 20lbs, and am still breastfeeding a 5 month old. I haven't noticed a decline in my milk quantity / quality either. Myfitnesspal has been the key element, as I had no idea what I should have been eating before, in terms of portion sizes / calorie counts etc. It also lets you make allowances for breastfeeding, so you don't go the other way and eat too little - highly recommend it! Am going to use it until I get back to my pre-first-pregnancy weight (I think I have about 10lbs or so to go), and then see what happens...
