I am using fitness pal to count my calories and am running 3-4 times a week, minimum 5k each time. I was 10st 5lbs and am now 10 stone exact and have been for the last 3 weeks. Just cant shift any more. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Any ideas? I do vary my diet and do have the odd treat but not all the time. My friends who are younger than me seem to be losing lbs every week :(

You aren't eating enough. I am 'older', excercise 4/5 times a week, eat at least 2200 cals a day and have lost weight.

Are you losing inches? When I exercise a lot my weight stops going down for a while (the muscles tear when you exercise then rebuild which makes them stronger but this means you retain water). Also how tall are you? Are you actually overweight?

Fraggle I am on mfp also, I struggle to get below 10st. I think eat more on the running days and exercise a little even just a walk on the non running days.

I am 5ft 6 and am a size 10/12. When checking on scales my fat percentage has gone down. I do walk alot as I wear a pedometer and try to walk everywhere. I think at my age (40) may be its harder to lose. I would love to lose another half stone.

I would vary your calorie count. Eat more some days and less another. I'm the same height as you and that last half stone will take time. It might be worth doing some weights to build more muscle alongside the running. Make sure you're eating enough protein too as you need it to build muscle.

I'm half an inch taller than you, 30yo and was 10 stone 8 a month ago. Have got down to 10st 1 so far, similarly by combination of MFP and exercise. Would love to lose another half stone but am sceptical I'll be able to do it...I don't remember ever being less than maybe 9st10 even in mid twenties with a diet and exercise regime similar to yours, which for me is quite extreme!

I've been doing 1600cals as my MFP target, trying to not eat back exercise calories and allowing myself to go quite over calories one day a week. And have been mixing up exercise: combo of shred, yoga, running and dancing. Maybe these could be possible ideas for you: 'surprise' your body with different types of exercise and the odd day where you eat more than usual?

I don't know if either of those suggestions would actually work, but I plan to keep doing what I'm doing so I'll let you know if I manage to shift the next half stone that way or not!

try weighs instead of cardio and try doing weighs three times a week, if you can't get to a weighs class or access to them then try a boot camp instead.

You body is happy with what you are eating and running, so change what you are doing
