I use to be so fit & healthy as I was always hiking/climbing & cycling .
I now live somewhere completely different where its all flat Sad

I just miss been active and I feel like a complete lump & don't want to be like this anymore Sad

I have never ever tried dieting ever & don't have a clue where to start though I like the sound of the 5:2 but does it actually work ??

Anyway back to my enitial question I plan on joining a gym I just want to get a bit fitter first so thought I could do some excersizes at home without the weird videos so any help would be great I just need a kick up the butt & some advice [smile}

If you're joining a gym a trainer will put together a programme of machines for you based on your time and preference strength/cardio etc.

If your membership includes classes you can't fail with spin classes or with the les mills programmes, bodypump etc.

Good luck!

I found some good home routines on Pinterest. Lots of squats etc

crazydrunkevilhamster · 30/05/2013 16:51

if you're joining a gym then get them to make you up a programme or go to classes. You don't need to get fit to join the gym, , you join the gym to get fit.

I am over 15 stone and go to classes at the sports centre. There are people of all shapes and sizes that go so dont be put off by thinking everyone that goes is super fit and slim.

Start running. (Power)walk more. Do bodyweight exercise routines at home (lots of routines on YouTube). Go swimming at the leisure centre. Incorporate fitness into your everyday life - run up and down stairs, get up and moving more, use car/public transport less. Loads you can do.

Also, I joined the gym overweight and unfit. I am transformed now - very fit, not overweight! 5:2 helped me with the weight and I'm still fasting one day a week to maintain my healthy weight.

Look on YouTube for 'Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 1'. Its a 20m workout with a mix of strength and cardio. You just need trainers and some weights, but you could use water bottles to start with. Good luck!

I know how you feel. I felt very conscious about joining a gym before I got ?fitter? but after a while I decided it was the best way for me to reach my weight goals. I went in and met with an instructor and he talked me through all of my concerns and made me feel comfortable. He set me a programme and was always there if I had any questions. I haven?t looked back since!! I am really pleased I made the decision to join. My instructor continues to review my programme every 6 weeks to push me further to reach my goals.

If you really don?t feel ready to join a gym I would also recommend the?30 Day Shred? it is a great DVD and does not take up a lot of time.
What ever you decide to do I wish you luck :)

Jillian Michaels DVDs really helped me. They are pretty evil, but it's a great feeling when you know you are getting stronger, toning up and losing fat.
