Hate sweaty excercise and have obviously screwed my metabolism up over the years, what can I do?

getting desperate now, I have tried every sort of diet, the thing that worked for me was calorie counting, a few years a go I lost 4 stone but I have put it all back on the second I stopped. I walk a lot (5 miles a day) plus I work 12 hour shifts in a hospital so on my feet all day at work, when I do a calorie check of a few random days I dont eat over 1800 calories but I constantly put weight on. I dont want to have to spend my whole life paying attention to everything I eat but the minute I stop I put weight on.

I like the idea of low carbing but just cant work out what to eat at work and things. Have done weight watchers, slimming world, mfp, paul McKenna. I just want to be slim (or at least nnot fat).
I hate feeling sweaty and really do not have time for the gym between study work and the kids.
Please tell me what to do.

Swimming. You cannot feel sweaty while swimming.

As for the rest of it, I am the same. I am trying mfp at the min. First week lost 3lbs. One day of a slight over eat and back to square one.

Come and have a look at the bootcamp threads. It's probably not how much you eat but what you are eating. Quite a few people post things they take to work to eat so you should get some ideas.

As for exercise I was going to suggest walking! Maybe increase the speed you walk?

wondering about low carbing again, with my discovery of lidl there are loads of lovely meats and salmon that I could get.

Brill for low carbers

swimming, yoga and walking 10,000 steps a day (get a pedometer)

PiratePanda · 26/05/2013 19:12

Swimming. But seriously, if you walk that much every day you're probably pretty fit, and even more exercise won't help much.

No, the problem is what and how much you eat, I'm afraid. You need to rethink whaf and how you eat for the long term.

10, 000 steps is five miles, that is what we should all be doing, maybe increase the walking distance & speed.

Drink cold water - the effort to warm it up speeds up your metabolism.

Do anything that shocks your body; cold blast of a shower etc, it might help to speed up your metabolism. Work on building muscle as muscle requires more calories to sustain itself than fat cells do, if you have more muscle you will automatically burn more calories.

If you are on your feet all day and putting weight on, chances are you are mis remembering your food.
Stop snacking.
Three healthy meals a day and NOTHING solid in between.
Not one biscuit or bit of chocolate.
Your body can EASILY go six hours without ingesting anything.

And watch the milky coffees and fruit juices.
