Can I drink alcohol on a diet? Please?

I had 35lbs to lose and started this week with healthy eating and treadmilling. Lost 5lbs! But pretty sure that's just poo and bloat (I've cut out bread and pasta products).

I have eaten healthily today but haven't treadmilled as I usually do it during DS's nap and things were more erratic today with trying a new playgroup.

All I want is a glass of wine and a bar of Dairy Milk. :(

Is there any alcohol that is not really high in calories?! Gin? Wink And what about chocolate? What can I make that is still a bit like chocolate but low in calories?

Am willing to take the booze and chocolate instead of dinner tonight (though I know I'll feel worse for it in the morning Hmm).

Gin or vodka with slimline tonic is best.

The slimmer's tipple Grin

spirits with diet mixers are probably the lowest calorie alcoholic drinks you can have. You could have one of those very thin dairy milk chocolate bars but it might make you want it even more. How about a Freddo?

You can - as long as you don't go mad. Alcohol has lots of calories in it and also erodes your willpower in reaching for other snacks!
Plain chocolate has slightly fewer calories and is satisfying eaten in smaller quantities than milk chocolate too, but if only milk will do, I'd agree with ilovepowerhoop - get something small, rather than a big bar and think you'll be able to just have a little bit. Keep temptation away. Good luck - sounds like you're off to a good start.

Tesco have lovely light chocolate mousse six pack.. really low. Also Milky Way Rolls (two little sticks in a pack) are great! Only worked out half a point each on old weight watchers plan.

I must admit, I have 277 cals left today and I really do fancy a Friday night glass of wine!

I have had a glass of champagne and a small portion of Ben & Jerry's choc fudge brownie frozen yogurt. After lovely quorn sausages with steamed veg for tea (DH and DS had lovely quality real sausages with buttery mash and onion gravy... which I made Envy). Am feeling positively virtuous!

Meerkat, I like a small glass of white wine topped up with fizzy water. Makes it last longer and I'm not a wine connoisseur so I like the taste too.

Dingle · 11/05/2013 09:23

Meerkat reading you post has tempted me to try Quorn sausages! Grin

I resisted the temptation of a glass of wine last night. I had a glass of water instead, with a few small scoops of ice cream! LOL

I am doing my C25K run today so I might just have to treat myself tonight. x

Well done Dingle! I thoroughly recommend quorn sausages. I'm a bit fan of quorn products in general - I often use quorn mince for chilli/bolognaise even when not dieting. I really like the texture but it is not to everyone's taste. :)

Well we can only try! Wink Might even treat myself to a little cooked brekkie tomorrow. x

MeerkatMerkin · 11/05/2013 16:23

Do it! I have 'facon' (quorn bacon!) for my fry-up tomorrow! I had lightly steamed asparagus spears with 2 soft boiled eggs this morning - delicious. Would recommend if you want a posh brekkie that isn't too naughty.

I promise I don't work for quorn by the way, I just really like it! Grin

Well, I was doing the housework and DH popped around the shop and come back with quorn burgers and sausages. We tried the burgers at lunch on a wholemeal bap, lettuce, tomato, onion and a little cheese! Surprisingly tasty! Grin

Hmmm, quorn bacon too......

years ago when I did WW I always reserved some points for wine!
Since I've been doing 5:2 I drink what I like (which is probably too much) at the weekend!
