Just to give you a couple of weeks advanced warning, so you can think about it, plan for it, etc.

Can I use different cheese? I don't have any parmesan in the house.

slatternlymother · 20/04/2013 19:51

auntie you can give it a bash, let me know how it turns out Smile

Ilovemyteddy · 20/04/2013 19:57

I'm in for the next Bootcamp. Have put on 4lbs in the last few weeks so am 7lbs below my target. Just need a bit of a kick up the arse to lose those last few pounds Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 20/04/2013 20:24

Chillis are fine, check the carbs per 100g and the amount you inten to eat if you're worried

rusmum · 20/04/2013 20:35

D you have to eat lots of fat? I'm thinking 2 egg omelette bit cheese, tuna,or chicken salad, and evening meals struggling bit., prob whatever family has minus carb bit. Gig to have to really think
L this through!!

BIWI · 20/04/2013 20:45

Yes, fat is important. You should be looking to eat in the following proportions:

fat:protein:carbs

Fat is satiating, so you won't be hungry. It's also really good for your skin.

And, it doesn't provoke an insulin response, so you won't put weight on eating it. Unlike protein (stimulates a small insulin response) or carbs (stimulates a bigger insulin response)

This epic meal just happened;

Sausages. Fried up some LC veg in butter. Chucked in oven proof dish together. Grated cheese over the top. Cracked some eggs over that. Baked in the oven.

Yum.

slatternlymother · 20/04/2013 21:07

Oh, and I stirred cream in the veg. Doesn't get more fatty than that!

BIWI · 20/04/2013 21:10
Grin

We had:

Fillet steak, fried in olive oil
Celeriac tartiflette
Asparagus with butter

and a vat of red wine

OP posts:
slatternlymother · 20/04/2013 21:31

That celeriac thing sounds really nice, is it on the recipe thread?

I am beginning to feel the same way about carbs as I do about Chinese food. Delicious, and tempting. But you're hungry again half an hour later.

Diet fizzy drinks are beginning to taste sickly, oddly.

BIWI · 20/04/2013 21:44

It is indeed, Slatternly.

I haven't really restricted my meat serving size elder, if anything I've been upping it to compensate for no carbs Blush but it's still worked well for me. I found after doing that, my appetite has naturally curbed itself if that makes sense?

I find a small handful of Brazil nuts and a Babybel really help stop OTT cravings. Although this advice may be quashed shortly by BIWI I don't know.

Had the cream cheese pancakes with blueberries and whipped cream this morning. I wonder if a less cheesy version could be made? Could I use full fat milk, ground almonds and an egg instead, BIWI?

BIWI · 21/04/2013 10:57

Wand - no need to restrict yourself to 3oz meat at all. Definitely try cutting down/out the dairy. But make sure you're keeping your fat levels up - use butter on your veg, oily dressings on your salad, etc.

However, I would counsel you that 1.5 stones is an awful lot to expect to lose. You may find that your body simply doesn't want to be that thin!

slattern - not sure about that - but have a go and see what you produce!

What counts as very low carb btw? What would be an ok carb count (for boocamp) in a yogurt for example?

BIWI · 21/04/2013 11:26

The best yoghurt I have found is Total Full Fat, which has 3.8g carbs per 100g. Apparently Lidl also make a good one, but I don't shop at Lidl.

What counts as low carb is a difficult thing to be specific about, as everyone has different levels that they can tolerate. But if you're Bootcamping, as long as you are following the rules and getting the majority of your carbs from the vegetables and salad on the allowed list then your carbs will be low enough for you to lose weight.

Thanks Smile

Just wanted to know for the dairy bit, as I don't 'agree' with cheese...

Lavenderhoney · 21/04/2013 13:09

Just checking in again. Looking forward to it and hopefully I won't have carb flu as I have managed to stay off them! I am snacking a bit though and have not been drinking enough water, although I have found sparkling water a lot easier to knock back in huge quantities.

This time though I am going to exercise, Pilates or a bit of the shred. I need to lose another 5 kg to get to my target.

Me and the dc all have BAB breakfast now:) though they have a bit of fried bread as well.

BAB = Big Ass Breakfast!

I've been fiddling around with low carb for around 10 years now. But I've been doing it seriously/properly for just over a year, and have lost 2 stone. I'm only a few pounds away from my target weight of 9 stone, so I need to get my backside into gear and focus on really doing it this Bootcamp.

I'm mostly a lurker here but would love to join this, I lost just over 1 stone before Xmas low carbine and felt great... Have since put it back on and feel completely shit again. So this will be a great boost. If I can keep up the threads move so fast. The last LC thread was fab for advice hints and tips. :)

slatternlymother · 21/04/2013 17:48

I'd really like to shift 5kg as well lavender that would have me looking really slim.

On problem is... I've got a 2 week work trip to France coming up at the end of May. HELP ME PLAN! I really, really don't want to blow it. I'm quite concerned actually. It's going to be meals out and social drinks a go-go.

I'm wondering if it's worth packing big tubs of plain yoghurt and LC snacks to take with me?

I must be the only one not looking forward to a free trip to France. I've even tried to palm it off and make excuses, but it's not happening, but then I suppose I shouldn't be making LCing limit me Sad

Confused
BIWI · 21/04/2013 18:17

Will you be staying in a hotel, slatternly? And whereabouts will you be? Are you likely to be near any shops/supermarkets?

IME the hardest thing to avoid will be breakfast - as it's usually croissants/pain au chocolat and baguette, with little else offered. If you can get hold of some yoghurt that is probably your best bet.

Do you know how much of your food is being provided for you, or can you go and buy your own?

OP posts:
WillieWaggledagger · 21/04/2013 18:18

Slatternly France should be ok (meats, cheeses, pates, salads etc) except for those bastard continental breakfasts. It might be worth taking contingency stuff for breakfasts if you can. You should be able to get some gorgeous low carb lunches and dinners though. Do you know what sort of format the trip will take? Are you moving around or staying in the same place? Will you have access to a supermarket or local market?

Ha cross-post with biwi (and a relief that she's said similar to me!)
