So here it is - come and weigh in for the last time and tell us how much you've lost in Bootcamp.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here

ecuse, be wary of myfitnesspals calculations, some will be american and wont have fibre subtracted, and some will be UK and will have it subtracted! Very confusing! Cocktail sausages can be carby, so watch those :)

Welcome to charfree and Orm! Great to see more people joining in.

carbalanche - I try & make lots of different veg side dishes so that I dont get bored. Cabbage & leeks in curried coconut milk was amazing! I also like green beans in garlic & shallots, courgette ribbons in cream, garlic & parmesan, roast swede sprinkled with rosemary, braised fennel, asparagus fried in butter and celeriac fondant :)

EwanHoozami · 20/03/2013 12:53

Ooh all those sides sound lovely, Black I've been stuck in a bit of a braised cabbage / roast broccoli / cauli rice rut lately so I'll try some of them.

Joyful discovery yesterday of a new Asian supermarket in town. They sell the no-carb noodles for about a quarter of the price of H&B so I've stocked up.

Today...

Lidl yog
Bresaola and avocado salad
No-pastry spanakopita

DorisIsWaiting · 20/03/2013 14:01

lost another 3 pounds this week so 19lbs in total for bootcamp really really pleased and will be continuing for the forseeable future I would like to be under 12st before the next bootcamp (fingers crossed)

WillieWEggledEgger · 20/03/2013 14:03

you're so clever with your recipes blackaffronted.

number one on my to-do list when i'm rich is 'appoint blackaffronted as personal low-carb chef'

charfree · 20/03/2013 15:31

Has anyone else noticed that when they're in ketosis they're freezing cold? I didn't have a great weekend, as at in-laws, but have been super strict since Monday and today have noticed that familiar icy feeling in nose and fingers.

DorisisWaiting - that is amazing...what weight did you start off with?

Also, does anyone have any advice on how to set target weight? I've always had 70kg (11 stone) in my head, just because I've never got below that since I was 21, and always felt really slim at this weight. (Haven't been below 80 in last 5 years, but now that's round the corner!) However, on the weight charts, 70 is still classified as overweight. I'm 5'7.

NoelHeadbands · 20/03/2013 15:59

charfree yy to being freezing. I dont need ketostix, I just look to see whether my fingernails are blue or not!

charfree · 20/03/2013 16:05

So strange, isn't it? I love it though...extra jumper means I'm doing well!

TheEarlyBird · 20/03/2013 16:42

Sorry - a late "declaration". Starting weight 179 and final weight 165 so that's a whopping 14lbs off for me. Really thrilled and a big Thanks to you all, especially you BIWI and you Willie for all your hard work. It was amazingly motivational having some (virtual) people to talk to. I'm now in a healthy BMI range and hoping to lose another 5.5 kg. Am going to dip my toe into the 5:2 woe, combined with low carb for a few weeks and see what happens although, tbh, I'll be happy if I can just maintain this weight for a little while. Good luck mes amis - (can you tell I live in foreign parts?!) xxxxx

teaandthorazine · 20/03/2013 16:58

Hello all

Have been reading a lot about Primal eating recently and have ordered the Primal Blueprint book - is anyone else subscribing to this WOT (way of thinking Grin)? The more I know about nutrition the more I feel I need to make a whole lifestyle change, really...

Anyway, not a great morning :glosses over: but am really looking forward to dinner tonight - steak with creamy pepper sauce, mushrooms, peppers and spinach all cooked in butter, with maybe a chunk of 85% hotel chocolat choc to finish off!

BlackAffronted · 20/03/2013 17:02

tea, I read Marks Daily Apple regularly, but couldnt go primal though. I am following the leptin reset though, that I found out about over there.

willie, Id love to be somebodys personal chef! My lot are so unappreciative of my efforts :(

Ormiriathomimus · 20/03/2013 17:03

Something nice to have with bacon and mushrooms. When I were a lass my dad used to male potato cakes with left over mash - these are as nice and low carb.

Beat an egg into a cup, add tablespoon of ground almonds and grated cheese and some ground pepper. Fry in pan with bacon - if you've got one of those non-stick rings to keep fried eggs round you can get a better shape.

LittleFrieda · 20/03/2013 17:19

Hi Orm,
Sorry you've had to hang up your running shoes. Can you swim?

Lavenderhoney · 20/03/2013 18:17

Long old day today, still lc but ended up picking at far too much cheese, finally finished the nuts so that that. Dinner was salmon in butter, braised leeks, bit of pasta for the dc, and broccoli.
Lots of water.

I am quite bloated but I think I need to drink more water. I am really tired too, so early bed - straight after the dc a few nights this week coming up.

Black - I'm sure they arent unappreciative really? You make lovely sounding meals. Do you ever let your dh take over now and then? Unless he is a fab cook- mine is and I get quite bored with the cries of " is daddy cooking? Oh..." My dc love to help me to, however, they might not actually eat it! I have a huge batch of cheese straws to be eaten and the dc don't want them after lovingly making them all afternoon!

  • they also miss my mil cooking ! If I make lasagne I get " we only like grans...." And a bit of nose turning up. So I lie and say gran sent it over like meals on wheels and they eat it!
BlackAffronted · 20/03/2013 18:40

DH does take his turn at cooking, usually at the weekends. trying to remind him of everything I can/can't eat is a chore though :( I find myself standing over him going "dont use too much onion! Oh, I cant have peas! No, no carrots either!" and he just sighs and goes all moody :( He does try though. Kids do love cabbage now though, so we go through 3 or 4 cabbages a week! They do like what I make, but they are just as happy with plain boring food. They wont touch frozen packaged food (potato waffles, fish fingers etc) so I do have to make everything from scratch - no biggie for me though.

TheHumancatapult · 20/03/2013 20:38

Char I had a goal in my mind but now there I'm adjusting it down slightly from 10 to 10.7 ( allows flucation) Goibg tad lower so 9.7 to 10 stone

Which while heaver than some on here I'm happy with weight as I'm now a 10/12 including in the shops that run truer to size

TheHumancatapult · 20/03/2013 20:51

Oh and char I'm pretty much cold a lot but thinn lot to do with Loosibg alm my blubber insulation

ScillyCow · 20/03/2013 21:07

Aaargh I have disappeared off the spreadsheet (prob because I didn't weigh in for the past 2 weeks) but my final loss was 10lbs.

Carrying on and I know the thing that's holding me back is not drinking enough water.
Will deffo be up for the next bootcamp!!

Thank you BIWI!

Ruprekt · 20/03/2013 22:04

B ham and cheese salad

L chicken thighs with cauliflower cheese

S smoked almonds

D. Courgette spaghetti with crab sauce, asparagus and buttery leeks.

Camomile and spiced apple tea

ChocsandChipsandSealingWax · 20/03/2013 22:08

Evening all.

Just had duck confit, kale and brussell sprouts for supper - mmmm- parboiled the sprouts and then chucked them in with the confit to roast a bit - mmm! And then I will have the rest of the sprouts for breakfast with buttery fried eggs. And this morning I had kale for breakfast with bresaeola and buttery eggs.

I remember two years ago when I first started looking at this WOE (but still couldn't get my head round the fat bit) reading low carb gourmet (real shame she didn't stick with it herself as the book is great) and her saying that anything could be breakfast. I have now finally got myself out of the toast/cereal rut and eating all sorts of stuff for breakfast!

Shows how far I have come on this WOE that I can finally have all this fat without any guilt (though it helps that everyone keeps telling me how great I am looking - if I were stalling alot like Black at the beginning I'm not sure I'd feel so comfortable about it).

black - your sides sound amazing- please can you put them on the recipe thread!

LittleFrieda · 20/03/2013 22:10

B - no
L - ham, cheese, mushroom & tomato omelette with watercress salad
D -chicken bacon and avocado on a bed of lettuce and asparagus

Snack - small lump of St Agur cheese

littlermissstan · 20/03/2013 22:14

Bone tired and have been really snacky today - all LC, but outside of Greek yog, avocado salad and feta and spinach omelette have also had a lump of cheese, little pack of pork scratchings, slice of salami and a few cocktail sausages, and just had a late night 'pudding' of Greek yog with peanut butter... Is this likely to affect weight loss? Hopefully have offset some of it with my hula hoop class!

Ruprekt · 20/03/2013 22:16

Chocs..... Hence my cheese and ham salad for breakfast.

Oooh my Waitrose bargains were amazing tonight!

2 chicken breasts with lemon and pepper down from £3.99 to 85p!!

They were on a 3 for 2 offer so I bought 3 packs = £2.55. But they still gave £1.99 back to me for the offer. So I got 6 chicken breasts for 56p.SmileSmileSmile

timidviper · 20/03/2013 22:59

Black I have looked at Mark's Daily Apple but I don't really understand what is the difference between the leptin reset and bootcamp. Can you explain it please?

I have had a bad few days, tummy upset and feeling so queazy all I could keep down was white bread and tea, definitely not lc. I'll be the only person ever to put on weight with a tummy bug!

MaryBeardfanclub · 20/03/2013 22:59

orm thanks for that recipe for egg/almond flour/cheese thingy - I had it with crispy bacon and some leaves with my HM mayo - delish + bowl of leek and chicken soup. Very nice tea. I am happy.

black your meals and recipes are inspired and inspiring, you are clearly culinarily gifted Grin. I am defo going to make oxtail stew this weekend. MY dc regularly turn their noses up at my delicious meals sometimes without even tasting anything - and dp is mainly veggie but will eat chicken and fish sometimes but often puts on a pained expression about the whole thing, highly annoying

ruprekt amazing bargains, what time are they available, the only bargains I have seen in W are bread ones

chocs I have cooked lots out of low carb gourmet - do you have a fav recipe? I love the chicken in cream and thyme and swede recipe. I recently got the Atkins recipe book but so far have not cooked from it - the Atkins cheese burgers look nice.

I am really itching to cook some scotch eggs. I love all this cooking, it's brilliant. And how wonderful vegetables are when cooked with lots of fat!

Bessie123 · 20/03/2013 23:05

I cooked scallops this evening, with cauliflower purée, creamed chard and anchovy and garlic broccoli - way better than anything mega carby
