I like eating more than I want to be thin

So how do u actually lose any weight ? If I ate less I would starve it's more what and when I am eating rather than how much I am eating . I normally only have two meals a day . And I have completely cut out chocolate I haven't touched any for two months . Yet I've still not lost any weight . Thyroid etc all fine so no medical reasons . I really dont know what else to do I've tried every diet in the book but either I can't eat all the stuff on it because it's too much or I don't like the stuff (picky eater)

I'm just so disgusted with myself I've been about 5 stone over weight for about 4 years now . I'm done now I need to get weight off but this sounds ridiculous but I don't want to change my lifestyle . I like it and it would be hard because I have an 8 yo dd and 6 mo ds so my time is completely taken up by them .

But I don't want them growing up with an obese blob as a mother SadSad

Sorry for the rambling drivel I don't even know what my question is I'm just so fed up I cry sometimes at how a mess I am Sad

See this is my problem . Everything you are telling me makes sense and I know I should take all of your advice and just get on with it .

But when I read it I think but I don't WANT to give up bread and potatoes

I need to change my mindset . I need to want to lose weight more than I want to eat those foods but I don't know how to do that Sad

foxrivereight - I hear you.

You need to do a bit of reading.

Read "Escape the Diet Trap" - but as it's more immediately accessible have a read of Dr Briffa's blog

You need to understand the impact that carbs are having on your body - and not just on your weight.

Come and join the Bootcamp threads. We've just finished the most recent Bootcamp, but we are all continuing to low carb, and the threads are still there for support this the current thread - I will be starting the next one tomorrow

I love bread and potatoes and I'm thin... I just don't eat it without its good bits and everything in moderation - skin on potatoes, always wholemeal (pref sprouted) bread ("hippie bread" as DH calls it), and bread without any dodgy crap added to it (read labels - it's terrifying what they add to commercial bread). And I don't scarf, when I'm full I stop.

Anyway, the easiest thing to do is concentrate on how you feel afterwards. I find refined carbs always make me feel sad and flat, and upset my tummy. Same with sugar. Do that enough and you'll build a link between food that upsets you and how you feel afterwards and not want it any more - that's what I did with sugar and now I never crave it.
