It's grams of pure protein not that many grams of protein high foods, such as meat. So for example in 100g of raw top sirloin steak there's 20.3g protein.

Professor Valter Longo, director of the University of Southern California's Longevity Insitute recommends eating no more than 0.8g of protein per kilogram of body weight each day. So for me (67kg) I should eat no more than 53.6g of protein each day. (Source: The Fast Diet by Dr Michael Moseley and Mimi Spencer.)

Come and join us on the main thread. There are losts of people on there who'd be happy to answer your questions. I'd strongly advice reading the OP and the tips and links thread as you will probably find most of your questions about the diet answered there.

...and it's a recommended level of protein intake every day, not just on fast days, but there is no harm in averaging that out over the week. So if you plan on going out for a big juicy steak on day just have another day when you keep your protein intake very low. I have to admit though, I don't bother counting protein grams myself, I just try not to eat huge portions of meat.
